Tire suggestions

Just bought a 2005, was looking for some rear tire suggestions, also for those using the Heli risers , how do you like them ?. Thanks Al

I to have had great luck with the pilot road 2s. Think ill try the new pilot 3s next time GOOD TIRES

I keep putting Metzler Z-6s on my '05 because I get such great mileage. Usually over 10K. But it's mostly freeway.

I began reading that same thread about a month before I bought my Exalto. While you're there in the darkside thread, check out some of the other info on those 104 pages. I read almost all of them before I chose the rear tire I have now.

Concerning the risers, though I have a custom made set, they're very similar to the heli-risers. I'm so glad I got them because I enjoy being able to sit up a little bit on my Feej. The throttle lock I just installed helps as well because it enables me to relax my grip and sit up a little straighter once in a while. Those risers and that throttle lock go a long way when a long ride makes me squirm around in the saddle looking for a more comfortable position.

personally, i would match whatever is on the front...

i just put some pr2s on, didn't care for them initially, then raised pressure to 40lbs, and now much better... hold the road nicely when leaned over

previously i had bt-023gt and they were excellent tires.... and generally at the lower end of the price spectrum... recommended

AMAZING stopping power on wet roads. I can't vouch for curves on wet roads because I refuse to try and find breaking point, though they do hold pretty well.

I agree with DaNav. Match the front for now. When you're ready to switch both I've had Pilots and really liked them. Much better ride than the stock Bridgestones. Switched to Dunlop Roadsmart and they also have a good feeling. Michelins, Dunlops, Avons I really don't think you can go wrong with any of their sport touring tires.

There are stacked two sets of risers to bring the bars up, back, and spread out 10 degrees from stock

Ok, from left to right:

FZ1 mirrors with MaxView Blind spot mirrors

Audiovox Cruise Control Pad

J&M CB radio with MP3 plugged in and weather radio and passenger intercom...J&M headset with two speakers

Zumo 550 GPS with bluetooth...talks directions and also can receive and make cell phone calls...speaker in left ear

black switches are three way for front and rear hyperwhites...run front ones solid all the time...leave the rear off

during PGR (Patriot Guard Riders) funeral escorts, click the switches to flashing and white leds act as strobes front and back

RAM cupholder

there's a two way switch switching between separate horn buttons or hit either horn button and both horns blow

this is Stebel Air Horn on TOG (tip over guard) and Fiamm disc horns replacing stock horns

there's a two way switch either hooking up the front hyperwhite to the headlight relay so it's only on

with the engine running like the headlight, or it's on unswitched power. I can use it for emergency flashers without

the key in

12 volt cig light plug cluster - MP3 charger, 2 minature led flashlights charge

unplug itself intermittently, so rubber band is a keeper on the cord pulling

I always match the front and rear tires, period, no exceptions. I would stick with major brands of sport touring tires and shop around for the best price. If you have a Cycle Gear shop near you, go visit them. Pick from the following list:

Bridgestone BT-023

Conti Road Attack 2

Dunlop Roadsmart

Metzeler Z6

Micheling Pilot Road 2CT

Pirelli Angel ST

I don't use bar risers, as a matter of fact, I would lower them if I could.

I also. try to always match them up . I make sure there is a round rubber black one on each end and I go as far as putting air in both of them. :yahoo:
