When I was at the airport to buy jet gas for my FJR I realized that part of the reason my FJR is not as fast as it could be is because the tires are slow. Motorcycle tires only go 160 to 180 miles an hour, look at the speed rating on the tires! DUH! Now, airplane tires go fast so airplanes can go 200-300 miles an hour and sometimes more. All I need to do is put airplane tires on my FJR. Plus, my motorcycle tires wear out in 6 thousand miles, but look at airplane tires, in just one trip from New York to California and back the tires travel 6 thousand miles and show almost no wear at all. I’ll bet these airplane tires will go at least a 100 thousand miles. I can’t wait to get them installed. Now I can make it all the way out west for NAFO this year and won’t have to change tires. Plus, with these fast tires on it the trip should only take me half a day to get there. Look out boys, here I come.

Jeesh Ionbeam, you have it all wrong AGAIN! Don't you know ANYTHING? Everyone knows you have to put helium in the tires for the airplane to takeoff and likewise you need helium filled motobike tires for long tread life and really high speed. You are welcome, jeesh, read a technical manual sometime, k'? Jus Sayin'...

Dunno. I reckon you can save the hassle of going to the airport and use the spare tire from your car. Seem to last a long time....years even....

Car tires are even slower than motorcycle tires. Most car tires are speed rated S or T so they will not let a car go faster than 112-118 mph.

That helium thing is wrong. They fill airplane tires with pure nitrogen, and you should do the same with your bike tires. I read that on the FJR forum after searching for it.

Ion - I noted the date, but I do have to say that Mad Mike tried the technique with his last bike. Results - not so good! There was less tire wear though. Kinda hard on the rest of the bike during the landing stage.
