My brother rode his motorcycle (not FJR) through a similar water crossing and filled his final drive with water. It was a good idea to check the pumpkin and it wasn't a whole lot of work or expense :) There is a difference between heavy road spray and possible submersion.

For what its worth, a small amount of water (from road spray or condensation) may be absorbed by the oil and slowly evaporate as the bike is ridden. The final drive gets pretty warm and water vapour will vent out. More of an issue if the final drive gets a big gulp of water.

So, maybe that 5 minutes out of what's left of my life wasn't entirely wasted

Oh Jeez Marie mcatrophy, don't give me an easy layup like that. This is like bouncing a low pass at Michael Jordan at the top of the key, two points in a Chicago second! JSNS, SCORE!

Just so you know McT, I'm one of the few on this site who actually know what you talk about. Spelling and all

I opened this thread assuming it was some sort of customer feedback for some dealer named Tissington Ford...

...and wondering why the hell that would be on an FJR site. Was pleasantly surprised...nice photo...nice banter...and tech info as well.

Thanks for posting.

My bad for using a capital letter for "Ford". Please refer to the second part of my post #16 above re my view on Fords.

Isn't it "Fjord?" Or something like that? I never knew what to do with the unnecessary "j."
That 'j' mispronounced something like a 'y', so "fiyord", the 'i' as short as you can make it. Or something like that.

...AJ, this is what that Brit Limey really meant! JSNS, FORD!

No thanks. Never liked Fords of any description. Pure prejudice. Well, maybe something to do with those vacuum operated windscreen wipers that slowed to a standstill just as you try to overtake a truck throwing up vast amounts of spray. Totally put me off Fords.
Windshield wiper function can change brand loyalty..

Only in Derby UK. :)

You'll have to explain to me what I mean in most of my posts.
You do just fine. There are still a few uninitiated on this side of the pond

Just here to help

I remember a '56 Ford Poplar I owned with vacuum wipers. Oh jeeeeez !!

And a '48 Austin 12 light saloon -- running boards and pull down blinds (shades) on the windows -- memories!

Gotta say, my wife just traded for her second Mini Cooper.

Out of all the problems with the first, the screen wipers worked perfectly...

She said it was OK to post her pic. She loves her car...

Nice to hear Russ, I owned an MGB with three windshield wipers all operated by vacuum! JSNS, PITA!

Wow, this proves you can find youtube videos on ANYTHING!

Oh yea, my MINI Cooper wipers are good, but not the washer sprayers, unless you like four solid streams of water.
