Find out what its natural predator is and get a recording of that - you can get tapes and such of most animal/bird calls these days. Play that outdoors and hopefully....

Or, find out what its natural predator is, and buy one. :assassin:

PART III. BIRD PESTS

Q: What is that bird that sings all night, and how can I make it go away?

A: This is a Northern Mockingbird, a common urban bird in most of California. They are highly territorial (and vocal), particularly during the spring and summer. The mockingbird may be trying to attract a mate or defend the territory around its nest from potential predators. If you've tried to scare it away but can't, you might have to wait until fall. Otherwise, some people have suggested hanging pie tins in the tree where the mockingbird sings.

Teach it a song that you like.

I'd say you have no choice but to cam-up, hide in the bushes, and take it out.

Slingshot, or pellet gun, or....these are quite handy;

I'm confused. The natural preditor of a mocking bird is a pie tin??

Well... DUH!... don't you remember kindergarden???? "...four and twenty mockingbirds baked into a pie..."

American edumacashion ain't what it used ter bee....

And yes, I know it's blackbirds.... :p

TWN....if it's that serious....I'm sure a rocket launcher can be procured from one of your more disreputable cronies :D ....you know some of your fellow FJR compatriots :D ....(NO...I won't bring one across the border for you).... :p ......

Get a loud fan, and run it in the bedroom. Pretty soon you won't be able to sleep without it.

Long ago I was bothered by a pesky woodpecker that hung out on the telephone pole across from my bedroom window. After about three mornings of listening to this bird, I snapped. I came in about sunrise from some serious partying and threw some rocks at it, no luck. We came from a non-hunting family and all I could find was a scoped 30.06. My pillow on the window for a rest, and blamm...

I'm glad I've mellowed in my old age because the wabbits are now getting on my nerves. The dogs bark at these critters at night. The neighbors moved away with their dogs, and it is a little better. And now I have a fully stocked arsenal!! LOL

I'd lose the moral values the red state of kalifornia has and just go with the slingshot and night vision goggles....that sounds like fun. Happy hunting.....

3 ideas that might work:

1.) Most birds are afraid of owls. You might try picking up a couple of owl "decoys" and placing them near where the mockingbird "sings".

2.) Most birds don't like their own reflection (Unlike caged parakeets and canaries). If you can get to the area of the mockingbirds singing platform, glue up some small mirrors.

3.) Learn to appreciate the singing.

TWN: since it's been a couple of months ago and this thread was revived, curious minds want to know. You still got the pesky bird or did you have to move? remember, what you say can be used in a court of law.
