I've been spending some time on advrider.com, you should too. Truly an international board with freakin' diehard moto-bikers.

I found this very motorcycle friendly campground from a guy riding through eastern Canada to the Pacific. I want to, and WILL visit this campground this summer. I want to meet the owners, experience Canada and her friendly people..

With a name of ToadRock, and hot showers, and music, and fridge's for the adult beverages, and showers... this place I will visit before I die..

Any others on board? If so, let's try to coordinate dates and times... If not, I'll just run solo wolf like normal.

I read Lorince's ride report. It was loaded with outstanding pics and a great narrative. That camground looked like a great place. Those ADV guys are hard core. I did like Lorince's approach of taking his time and really taking in all the sights and sounds.

Have found lots of good info there and enjoyed some outstanding ride reports.
On a side note. Are you the prez of the CBA or CBR (R for rider(s))? I’m thinking the group should be known as CBR. Have I got it wrong?

Potentially certifiable, though undocumented member of CBR. :bike:

You got it spot on, shokdimm.....prez carver is just in a league all of his own.

i live too close to toad rock to actually camp there, i do often pop in for a visit though.

the owners like to say that the sound of loud pipes is the sound of friends.

the riding in the area is truly spectacular. toad rock is only a few minutes ride to ainsworth hot springs as well.

pm me when you're going to be here and i'll burn some gas with you.

derek

Don,

I rode right past Toadrock last Sept. on my little sojourn thru BC, ALta, Mont, ID and back, and stayed that night in Nelson, one of my favorite towns anywhere. If you get there, do not miss the ride between Kaslo and New Denver (both ways). It is a top 5 anywhere ride.

2 years ago, Marianne and I stayed in the Nelson area for a week and did day and over night rides that were like nirvana. Sept is the best time to go, after school is back in and the tourists have died off. The weather is superb.

Ralph. .... Fred..... Bob..... Jack....

Hey Shodimn, it's offically the Candy Butt Association, a true antithesis of the Iron Butt Association. I do, however really like the Rider suffix and just may make a change!

Derek, You are ON! I hope to be up there this summer, pre NAFO. I want to party at Toad Rock. I won't have as much vacation time as last year, so it may be a BBG there, but I will be there.. it's just a matter of when. I would like to burn some gas with you, I need an escort to keep them angry Canadians from killing my ignorant American ass!

Thanks for the input Fred! You know, Jack, I really appreciate friends who tell me where the best roads are.. Thanks again Ralph! (for those who don't know, when I finished my SS1k last summer, BikerSkier was my end witness. I've never met the man before, and in my tired state I simply could NOT remember his real name. In my complete and deboner fashion called him every name in the book other than his real name.)

Thanks again Ralph!

Yes! It's my favorite place to camp. The fabulous Kootenay area roads and scenery are a big draw for motorcyclists but it's the Host team of "Mother" Mary and Steve that make the place extra special.

Toad Rock, great campground, a little more of the V twin crowd at times but great people, hospitality and campsite. You are in bear country so be prepared!!

The road between Kaslo and New Denver has NEW ASPHALT !!!!! :yahoo: Enjoy

Judging from the map, it is just a few miles north of creston...................................canada!

PM me when you're coming Don. With any luck Sylvia and I will have moved to the Okanagan by then. Highway 6 out through Lumby makes a very pleasant ride to the Kootenays other than way too many forest rats and BDC's in the tighter bits.
