I dunno, maybe it`s just me. I sorta gave up on this site a couple of years ago thinking I didn`t fit in. Came back for a visit and started to participate again but, it just ain`t working for me. Can`t help but think : I must be mentally deranged...why is everyone else having so much fun while I contemplate suicide (it`s only a metaphor, folks). Seriously...is it me or, has this site become somewhat disfunctional? Oh, BTW...cheerio! :assassin:

shuswaper,

My curiosity has gotten the better of me. What do you mean by, "this site [has] become somewhat disfunctional (sp ;) )"? Can you provide examples?

In all seriousness,

This site serves its purpose well. It provides entertainment during times when the bike can't leave the stable. It provides knowledge on most anything FJR related, and it serves as a virtual meeting place to find common grounds, build relationships and form groups.

What else can this site provide? Seriously, if you have suggestions...

Have a great day

I would echo what SPORT said. It's a place of entertainment, knowledge, networking, etc.

Online communities aren't necessarily for everyone, and they're certainly not used the same by everyone. Maybe you have more of a *real* life than we do and don't have time for this online bs???

This is one of the better forums I have found. Is it perfect, not by a long shot, but it is still better than many other forums I have found. No matter what type of forum I have found, nothing is like getting out there and doing it.

Only been here a short time but so far have found this to be one of the better forum's.

As stated, examples on how you feel this is a dysfunctional forum.

Maybe, it is not the forum.

You mentioned coming back only recently. Motorcycle forums in general and this one included are very seasonal. The bull in the winter can seem pretty disfunctional. In the background is planning for NAFO and the other get-togethers, discussions about mx, etc, but I know people who "drop off" during the non-riding months.

and then you have folks like me,

i very little technical knowledge to share

i don't communicate well

but i generally like people and personally i love the bits of sarcasm and other humor that gets thrown in

and i have a lot of fun here

oh and yes i do learn some from some of these nuts here too :p :D

Yeah, we could definately improve. Like for instance, we could add dogpile Wed. instead of just Fridays. We could also use some more ****s around here. Fo' real, instead of 6 FJR's at the top, why not 3 sets of jugs?

Oh, we should definately add a section where Iggy does your taxes.

And for the love of god, someone put a coffee maker in this forum!

Perhaps you have not taken the forum for what it is worth. Info about FJR's!

This is not myspace, and was never intended to be.

However, I for one have met some pretty good friends on the forum.

Beeing too old or too deranged are the least possible justifications for not having a good time participating on this forum! If anything that should help you fit in!

here ya go

It is you. I'm sure there are others who also don't get it.

For me, this place has just the right combination, in a pretty good ratio, of excellent technical information, socializing, and general goofing off and does a good job of keeping the noise down. Works for me. I belong to a half dozen other bike related fora and this is the only one I visit regularly. If only we could ban those guys who keep coming up with group buys.... those things are murder on my wallet.

It's probably because of the Nazi admins who work constantly to put the slap down on forum freedom fighters. Just ask ratbagg, Cpt america etc, the true forum heroes.

Group buys and farkle ideas. Holy flying donkey dung! Ya think I'm made of money!? :p

Dysfunctional? Hah! Far from it. I can send you to several sites where a new guy is instantly jumped on for saying hello. Worse, most of my local sites are so choked by in-fighting, political BS and social blustering, there's little value to be found. (And they wonder why I don't ride to their meets?)

No my friend, this forum is one of the better ones. I've met some really great people here and look forward to meeting more.

its winter and too many of the members are suffering from the dibilitating, but temporary at least in most people, effects of P.M.S. (parked motorcycle syndrome).

So, the banter gets around to things like: "who made the coffee?", "which tire is best?", and the always popular "which brand of oil would you use if you could get out and ride your motorcycle?"

It, and they, will get better as soon as the snow melts and the sun comes out.

I rode to work today so its no problem for me.

Where else could an 80# newbie poke fun at a 250# seasoned rider and not have his handlebars lodged sideways up his ***, and both of them be laughing by posts' end? Here I find so much info, some of it relevant, some of it pre-emptive, great riding stories, ideas for trips, dangers explained, farkle-facts, what to pack, best tire fixes, and a nice place to people-watch. If we had ****s and recipies it would be perfect. I hope you stick around and find something that makes your riding more fun or saves yer bacon... then it will all seem worthwhile, if not, ride safe and good luck to you.

I think Shuswaper might be talking about thread: Introduction to Dog Piling 101

Shuswaper, come on man! You came in here and posted on a topic that was bound to draw some feedback. If I was the one that pissed in your Wheaties, I'm sorry man. I Love you and everything that you stand for!

OK, now will you stay?
