I just noticed there is no tool kit under the seat. There seems to be a spot for it with the rubber straps ready to hold it in place, but no kit!

What came under your seat (besides dust)?

No cheesy, pot metal pliers or spark plug socket? Damn, now how are you supposed to do those all-important roadside maintenance tasks?

Seriously, though, if it ain't there, your dealer will/should give you one.

Edit: Virginia guy: welcome aboard :D .

Bubba: Call or go back to the dealer... I actually have 2 tool kits...
Good luck

I bought mine last week and the owner of the dealership lost my toolkit also. He transferred the bike from another one of his dealerships. Also lost the owners manual. He said that he would ship them to me in 30 days or less.

Not to worry. There are plenty of tool kits around. Every dealership that sells FJRs has them. Just stop by, lift the seat, and take one. That's what I always do. Go early and go often - some bikes don't have any toolkits left!

Don't take too many though, because you can only fit three of them under the seat. I don't know what I'm going to do with the rest of mine.

Hey. You want to buy one? I can probably get a fair price from my dealer tomorrow. My dealer buys them all the time, so they should know.

Tool kit = yes, I paid $13,000 for it and got the bike for free (w/ purchase of course) :p

Under the FRONT seat (BTW)

Ha Ha! I got one but it's probably dustier that yours! You should have one - even if it's cheesy. Everyone needs a cheesy tool kit... :D

When you go back, make sure they give you a fjr hat. All that dough spent you got to have a free hat. Thought my dealer was going to drop his false teeth when I asked for one but he gave in. Diddos. PM. <><

Good point. The tool kit is under the RIDER'S seat on the '06's. I believe it's under the passenger seat on older models...There are storage areas with rubber straps under the rear seat, but those are for your personal junk.

Nine posts... one question, seven funny answers and finally a real answer. LOL.

came in mine.

yep you should get one - but you should probably replace it.

remember - if you actually need to use the tool kit it will be because you actually want to do something. The tools aren't the worst - but they are far from the best. You can replace all those crappy tools with appropriate good ones and fit them in a tool roll and still fit in the same place. I usually carry a fair assortment of tools in one of the side case bags - put a piece of heavy duty cardboard cut to size over them so that I can still use the case and not have my clothes (or whatever) smell like WD40. A couple of extra tools (like Ball end allen keys) and either a small set of sockets or wrenches - good screw drivers - a butane soldering iron (and solder) - roll of duct tape - roll of electrical tape - a couple of electical taps - some wire - several tie wraps - tire repair kit and some basic first aid stuff. Doesn't take all that much room.

at least if I have to work on something I wont be afraid that I'll strip a nut

Other than the tool kit, you should also have under the seat or in the stuff they gave you an extra case

lock, and the four color matched body "fills" if you decide to keep the side cases off.

There is an area under the passenger seat that can be used to hold stuff, with those rubber straps, so make sure you got those too.....

Is there a smiley for "Embarassed"?

Never thought to look under the front seat - just made some incorrect assuptions.

Yeah, it's there under the front seat.

Under the front seat on all the years. The rubber straps under the pillion seat are for a U-lock.

The tools are made out of licorice; so don't be too rough on them.

Great, you found it! :yahoo:

Now you can walk over to your trash-can, do an about-face, and drop your tool kit over your left shoulder.

The factory kit is only dead weight, IMHO.

Sears has some great sales on sockets, combination wrenches, allens and drivers to help you put together a decent tool kit matched to your needs.

Yamaha can build such a great bike and then slap together such a POS tool kit, it's almost an insult! <_<

But then the only tool kit worth keeping that came with a bike I bought was my 1956 Matchless Typhoon.

Man those were the good old days.
