Torque specs

Anyone out there know how much torque to put on the two motor mounts on the side. I'm talking about the mounts where someone might put a frame slider. I do not have a shop guide but I'm hearing numbers between 20-25 ft-lbs. That sounds low to me. Thoughts...

The instructions that came with my sliders say 35 ft-lbs.

The instructions that came with my sliders say 35 ft-lbs.

And I recall reading many times to torque the left side mount first.

35: M12: Engine mounting bolts (right front lower side)

35: M12: Engine mounting bolts (right front upper side)

So I have to ask. Did you put the sliders on and was 35 ok? i have to put mine on but wife threw out box with directions. She hates the bike unfortunately. I should have asked her first. Naw!!

Not yet. They have not arrived. I'll call my local shop and see what they think about 20-25 ft-lbs on those motor mounts. 35 sounds like a better number but I would hate to over tighten and snap a bolt.

I'd be more fearful of "pulling" the threads than snapping a bolt.

Tighten slider bolts to 35 '# per the manual. Use an easy steady pull with a good torque wrench. The case can take it, it took more than that to remove the Factory bolts on new machine. The bolts with my T-Rex units are better grade than Yamaha hardware. No worries.

Finally got the sliders on today, torque to 35. never feels like enough. Probably going to be rechecking over the next few months to make sure they don't loosen. Taking the bike out to cape cod in 2 days. Thinking about all the sand around and risk of sliding out. I figured i better get them on before that trip. So far no scuffs. Trying to keep it that way.

What a dummy I am. I guess the step just prior to determining the torque is determining how to use a torque wrench.

I am sure I significantly over-torqued the bolts. Nothing broke and I have them re-torqued correctly, I think! Can someone explain "pulling" the threads, and is it possible I did some damage?
