my touring trunk lock does not come out far enough to lock case to bike. how to fix?

As far as adjustment goes, there is none... but search out FJRGuy's thread about a side case latch issue, the internal mechanisms may be similar in that you may just have to pull the tongue out (it may have skipped a gear if you accidentally tried to force the latch while it wasn't all the way in position)....
I may dissect later, but I'm holding off until I see if Yamaha will replace my box.
