Tracer 9 back to FJR

I had a14 FJR, sold it and bought the Tracer 9, 2021. I do like the Tracer but it isn’t close to the ride of the FJR. I knew it wouldnt be but thought there would be similarities. I was wrong. Fun to ride though. I just bought a 15 FJR with 16k miles and it feels like I’m home again. Didn’t realize how much I missed the FJR.

Like you, I'm just now back on an FJR too. Bought one 3 years ago, enjoyed it, then sold it last year to go back lighter, buying a Z900RS. Fantastic bike but not good 2-up so I sold that and went FJR shopping again. Recently found a nice '15A model w/great mods and 12k on the odo and couldn't be happier.

Kind of funny, but I had a 2007 FZ-1 since 2010. I sold it last December to a guy that eventually bought a Concourse and I recently bought it back from him. I kind of missed it after I bought my FJR even though I love my Feejer. I recently rode the FZ-1 and it made me realize why I want to ride the FJ so much more. I do think the FJ is one of a kind. I can stay in the saddle for long time, ride two up with no issues, ride in poorer weather due to the electronic wind screen and fairing and it turns and runs like a scalded hound when I want to ride in the mountains. I like having a second bike for various reasons and lets face it with the weiight of the FJ, you have to think and handle it in parking and tight places, but what a GREAT bike!

I keep the Honda VTR1000 as my sport bike. I keep the Yamaha FJR as my sport bike.

Similar story. I bought a Tracer 900GT and just a couple of weeks ago, sold it and went back to an FJR, 2019, from STL. Flew up and rode it back home to the Dallas area, 710 miles. So much nicer of a ride.

I have a 13 FJR that I put 50,000 on. Bought a 16 Versys 1000 thinking it could replace the FJR. I tried for two months to make the Versys do what I wanted it to do, and then accepted that the bike I had sitting right next to it did all those things already. While the Versys is an excellent bike in many ways, it couldn't compete with the the F-Train for high speed stability, roll-on acceleration, and aerodynamics. Also, the F was clearly a higher quality machine. Be careful moving away from your FJR. The bike is not particularly "easy" to ride (especially at walking speeds), but few bikes (non that I have ridden including a 19 BMW 1250 RT and a 22 Multistrada V4S) can match up to the FJR for what this bike was very purposely designed. Btw, I sold the Versys and every time I get on the F my decision is reinforced.

Oh, also rode several FJ-09s and a 2022 Tracer 900GT. NO comparison to the FJR; felt like cheap toys.

I test rode a Versys previously and did not like the geometry.

Your testimony already changed a mind that was considering a Tracer

I am sure there are folks who will love the Tracer, but it just wasn't for me. The FJR is far more comfortable, as well as powerful and smooth riding. Can't go wrong. Now, it it only weighed what the Tracer did...

The way I figure, my second bike must be a complete diversion from the FJR. And it is: 2005 Honda VTR1000. These machines are both irreplaceable.
