I'm finally ready to have a go at the track. So this all may be for sale in a month as well. The matching outfit is pretty silly, I keep tellin' myself it's "okay" on the track. Most likely I'll be a natural and have sponsors etc., so my colors will probably change...ya know, whoever is the highest bidder.

Anybody need their lawn mowed?? I need to build back some of that "emergency" savings account... Plus I still need a trailer.

you forgot one last item...Number of grins per turn, Priceless. :) Looking good, don't expect too much grief about the matching outfit.

Who's your insurance through, and is it specifically for that track day or is it regular comprehensive/collision?

Its just regular, through Progressive. $1000/yr for both bikes. (fjr and gsxr) Actually I think the gixxer is closer to $600/yr.

At least the pucks are broken in already :good:

Don't expext much on the first half of the day in a novice class. Most of pre-lunch is typ showing lines and moderating your speed to warm you up and give you class time. (if you have good track organizers)

Who you doing it with and where VIR?

Have fun

I dont know what to expect, I'm fine with taking it slow at first. I don't have a clue what I'm doing.

I'm doing one at Summit Point...a track about 10 mins up the road. Which is good cause I dont have a trailer, i could walk there if i wanted. Then I'm doin the Kieth Code thing in May at VIR (Virginia International Raceway) using their bike though. I was signed up for a Nesba track day at the same place but i might switch to another one i found locally...supposively (?) (a word i'm just learning doesn't exist) less people more track time but its during the week.

Hey Fencer, how tight is your suit?? This thing is tiiiiight, Ive read its supposed to be. But if i stand up straight it kills the crotch. I don't know if i can fit a back protector under it too. I went out for another ride today trying to get used to the gear. (which was embarrassing when the neighbors saw me pull out dressed like that) I guess I can move ok...itll prolly work. As for the knee puck, I bareeely got it down...and im sure i was cheating. Anyway looking forward to it all.

Drew;

BEWARE!!! Track days are addicting!!!! Only do this if you are ready for the most fun ever, and have more money to do it...often!

I was hooked from the first one and each one after was more fun...until after 6 years of doing this I high sided my dream girl. That was not fun or pretty and rather pricey to fix.

A friend who races told me, "never take your favorite bike to the track." Good advice but pricey for a separate track bike, but that's now what I must do.

HINT:

Get with the instructors and have them follow you, critique you, and ask for all the advice you can! They usually do this with the beginner group for nothing. After that you pay big $$ for that advice.

Have fun, ride safe and at YOUR ability. Don't let anyone suck you into a turn too fast, it's not a race just have fun and learn.

+1 on that!!

Drew, I am one day ahead of you on the track day (last summer for me - write up here: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?showtopic=22924) but you are way ahead of me with gathering the gear... I am currently searching for a track/street bike (won't abuse the Feejer like THAT again), my leathers are on order, and I now have the exact same boots you're wearing in the pic. I am planning on at least four track days this summer - all at Road America.

After "being" with NESBA for about seven months now, I have to endorse them as a track day organization. Actually, they have me a bit leery of attending another organization's trackday from the stories I have heard, although I may still try one at a closer track that NESBA doesn't run.

Anyways, if you decide not to keep that Suzuki, can I call first dibs? although it is a bit nicer than something I am planning on bringing out to the track.

Enjoy the day, ride safe and you won't stop grinning from ear to ear. Also, don't forget that ride report with pics!

Gunny on the track riding addiction. My next one is at the 2.3 mile 21 turn AMA track at California Speedway, Fontana CA on 28 March. Can't wait to climb back on the 05 R1 and get it on!! :specool:
