Do any of you Kali folks know if hwy 89 is good through Tahoe and to hwy 88 and on to 49??? Trying to pick a route that keeps me out of the valley and away from most of the idiots.

You can't get through Lassen Park on 89, but you can pick it up south of there and clear sailing--with maybe some controls for work along the way. Here's a good link for Cali roads.
Thanks Mike. Wasn't planning on Lassen. I'll be coming down through Susanville and pick up 89 by lake Almanor. My concern was if there was still snow issues around Tahoe.

Ray, when are you and Party leaving Lapine? I'll be in Portland until Monday or Tuesday, then heading South. I was thinking Coastal and then 36 across to the Valley. Spending the night in Yuba City, then to Yosemite via 20/49

Thats going to make for a long day John. We will probably leave Wed. The last time we went this route we spent the night at one of the casinos at Tahoe for cheap and then on south. On that trip I went through Markleville and did Ebbets pass. It was a bit tight for my bride so this time I'll try hwy 88 to 49. I'm considering the coastal route home depending on weather. I prefer to stay dry if possible.

Ray,

If I could post links from work, I would. Go to Nevadadot.com and click on the travel info button and go to traffic cams. A quick check of the southern most cam near Tahoe shows no snow
