As Big Sky has stated, be prepared for any and all weather conditions. My 43-year-old son and I completed a 7000 mile run last month, on an FJR and a Gold Wing. We hit every state from the Dakotas west, except Arizona. In the mountainous regions, you can go from 80 F. to 35 F. in 30 miles, especially in the Northern Rockies. You will ride thru rain, hail, and possibly snow. As far as camping, just watch or ask locally for state parks. Most of them will have shower facilities. We found a few campsites which cater to motorcyclists, and they are as cheap as the state parks ($10-$20 per night). Don't get in a hurry, and don't forget to stop often for photos. You will cherish the visual reminders of your time together. phil
