Went to the Seattle Cycle World Motorcycle yesterday & spoke to a Cypress rep at the YAMAHA booth. The word is that the push button shift will be the same color as my "04" and the standard shift will be "05" blue. So sez the rep!! They had one of EACH on the floor. The 12 volt plug-in is in the top front part of the glove box & has a inch or so hole in the bottom to run the wire thru. Tried to get some straight talk about the "ticking issue" & all he would say is that is if your's ticks Yamaha will fix it!! The two bikes on the floor are pre production.

I don't know about the silver but the color on blue one is not exactly the same as the '05.

Yes, I understand the '06 Standard to be Cobalt Blue where the '05 is Galaxy Blue.

I also was at the Seattle IMS today and saw the '06 FJR.

The color is way different then the '05 galaxy Blue. The Cobalt blue is lighter and has a green tint to it, where the Galaxy is darker with a red tint to it.

The paddle shifter isn't in the best of positions and I would probably shift with my foot. The span between the grips seems narrower and the grips have seem to have a different angle with the ends pointing back farther. Foot peg placement has been moved, but I couldn't really tell the difference. The seat is lower as well.

The gauge cluster is sweet and overall it really is a good looking bike.

I dunno. I went to the show Friday night and had a completely different reaction. I thought the new blue, the changes to the mirrors, and the instruments were all kind of cheesy. Why draw attention to the mirrors? Why put shiny trim oj the instruments?

The blue A bike had the fairings adjusted from the stock setting and they were surprisingly flimsy. Lots of movement.

I did like the redesigned rear end; better tail light visibility and a more practical rack. Overall I like my '05 better. But then maybe I'm just being a grumpy old *******, too.

No, not grumpy, just a different taste. I am with ya, don't like the look at all.

The 04 / 05 look is the best so far to me. The front of the 06 looks like a giant bug vacuum.

To each their own. Enjoy the 06 if you get one.

Well, then I'm ready to suck some bugs with the front of my vacuum! :D

FJR&R and I went to the Seattle show on Saturday and thought both models looked incredible. The colors are definitely different from previous model years and look sharp. Got some good pics I'll try to get on here in the next couple of days. Even got one with FJRForum member "Sparky" drooling in the background while I was on the A model...I think he was gettin' ready to tackle me for hogging the show model!

I think the front treatment looks a lot like a VFR...but that could be the refraction from y glasses.

Overall, since they are "improving" the wind/heat management based on the original frame, the designers didn't do so bad a job. While I'm love my '05, even thought it is a pain to keep clean compared to the '04, if I were shopping, I'd buy the '06 FJR rather than any of the other sports touring bikes. The Feejer floats my boat.

The lower part of the fairing is wide open, just as on the older models. All the new air they are bringing into the fairing is going to come out on our shins. We still need foam. I talked with the rep and ask him why no cruise control. Nobody wanted electronic shift but a lot of us want cruise. He said that all the FJR owner that had talked with his had ask for cruise and that he will pass it on as part of his job is to gather reactions. All you guy that are waiting for the show to hit your town. Ask for cruise.

…not really a big deal. Add the electronic AudioVox as many have for $100. If I go to the spring show near my area… I will tell them to breath more masculinity in it. How about simply just more HP and a bigger Alt. Leave farkling to individual tastes. A bonus would be adjustable bars that go lower and more forward. Just my opinion…I could be wrong. LOL :p

I was at the Seattle show Sat. What I noticed is the 06 FJR frames are different. In the fairing vent holes the frame is there and a mounting bolt is right there. If it can be pulled the frame savers can be mounted right there fairing unaffected and 'bridge' plate would be unnecessary. Interesting. Most other changes seemed subtle. The mirrors are nice though. Not impressed with the new grab rack. Easier to clean though. ;)

The handle bar AE switch looked like someone stole a squirt gun trigger and mounted it there. :p
