I would like to read some reviews on two up riding.

I am 5'8" 175lbs. My wife is 5'1' 110 lbs.

We have an St1100. My wife really likes the St1100, but it is the only Sports/Tourer we have had. We also have a Valk. and she like that too.

I'm thinking of getting an FJR. It would be used 50% for touring (2 up) and 50% for Sporting (me up).

How is the FJR for 2 up, especially for the passanger? I'd would have a givi top bag too.

Comments please:

I'm 6'0 and 200lbs, my wife 5'3 and 140, and we are what I would call a "snug" fit , so you two should have plenty of room. My wife says it is the most comfortable seat of any bike we have had, we do 250-300 mile days regularly, and she never complains.

Biggest problem for us is my seat, I find it very uncomfortable on hot days,

You seem to slide forward until your "delicate" bits are crushed against the tank, so I will probably go with a Corbin for the new season.

Passenger pegs seem well sited for my wife, so yours should find them good too.

You two should have PLENTY of room...and the bike will handle quite nicely. I'm 6'2", around 215 pounds, she's 5'4"ish and probobly 'round 135ish (I hope she doesn't read that incase I'm way off) and we fit without any real problems.

The front end is a bit light under acceleration, but nothing to keep me from enjoying the ride.

Aren't you a waiter? Or have you not ordered yet? I am confuzzled.
I'm not a waiter. I'm a Pro! -- Pro-crastinator.

My wife likes the ST1100 and the darn thing won't wear out!

But, I'm going to get an FJR as I want a more Sporty bike!

I had a St before my FJR. The St is a very smooth bike but pig when it came to having fun. FJR is a bit buzzy but you will forget about that once you whack the throttle and hit the twistys. Put over 24k on each bike, the fjr is way better. Couldn't tell you about the little woman part as mine rides a horse, but a good seat should keep her happy. I know you will be. B)

I'm 6'1, 210 Jenny is 5'8, 140. She is quite happy on my 04, and I suspect will be even happier on the '06. When Jenny is happy, Mark is happy.

My wife likes to ride pillon, she can do it all day but I hate it for anything more than about an hour. I wish she'd get her own bike <_<

I wouldn't enjoy anything less than a BIG cruiser for 2 up, i.e., Goldwing, Royal Star, ect. But that's just me. Some people like 2 up just fine on an FJR.

The '06 FJR has lots of farkles built in - { heated grips, better heat management, lower passenger pegs, better air management, etc., www.yamahamotor.com for more}. Time will be what she makes of it. If she like the ST, it will never wear out, and if she smiles -- you smile... :)

If she likes new shiny things, and you do to -- get a new bike. Neither the ST or the FJR will let you down.

My spousal unit says that there is little wind protection back there, whether the window is up or down. She dislikes highway riding for that reason.

Nothing better for two up long distance touring than a Goldwing. No doubt about it. Hey a GL even won the Iron Butt ride this year. I saw a GL rider smoke guys in the twisties, even left me on the FJR. But I am a poor example of a sport rider. But no bike does both better than the FJR.

I agree that a GL is the best for long distance, but I think I'd take a Valk interstate!

Just can't bring myself to ride a GL. That seems to confirm I'm old.

(No disrespect intended to GL riders, It just the way I see it. The Valk Interstate is the same as the GL in many ways, but I don't feel old on a Valk.

It all depends what you consider "long distance" riding. I had a GL1800 and now have a Bandit 1200S and have ridden a 04' & 05' FJR. I would say that the FJR would be just as comfortable than a GL for about 300 miles at a clip for one or two. More than 300 miles at a clip, the GL wins in the comfort category.

I also think that the suspension on my B12S is better than the GL except for the seat. The GL tends to be a bit harsh over bumps. So if I had a better seat on the B12S then it would be better than a GL.

My 2 cents.

I'm 5'7" and 204 atm and my wife is 5’2”, between 130 and 140, and loves to ride on the FJR. She says the bike is comfortable but she has back problems and can’t do really long rides because of it. I have the Yamaha top case with the backrest pad.
