So what do you do at the end of a 12 hour day to avoid doing anymore work? You plan you ultimate get away ride, of course.

Mine is the ultimate 4 corners.

1) Happy Valley Goose Bay in Canada

2) Dead Horse, Alaska

3) Coronado, California

4) Key West, Florida

With the detours and staying off of the busy roads, it mapped out at right around 19K miles. I figure I have about 10 years before the wife will let me go on this ride, but I needed something to think about other than spread sheets.

3) Coronado, California
You might want to substitute in Imperial Beach, CA for Coronado. Besides being about 8 miles closer to the corner of the country...there's a great pier photo/ocean/beach opportunity. I had the opportunity of staying at a condo there and watching helicopters patrol the Mexican border while boogie boarding in the surf...and there may have been alcohol involved.

Yes, that would be a better point as one of the corners. I would still want to go to Coronado, since it is where the SEAL's do their BUDS training, and is a place I have always wanted to visit.

I had a very similar day today except instead of the ultimate four corners I'm planning an entery level 4 corners trip.

Instead of using the entire US I mapped the corners of WI which mapped out to about 1,068 miles

The upside to this plan is that the start time isn't 10 years away but already set for Aug. 30th at 4 a.m.

If this goes well perhaps I can move up to a planning for a BBG and then start thinking about the ultimate 4 corners. Until then it's one step at a time.

So are you going to do the WI 4 corners as a SS1K? Could be tough on some of those roads, but you never know without a try.

I have smaller plans in mind over the next 10 years, before I might get a shot at the U4C.

Yes, it will be an 1st attempt and we are keeping it open as a "try" experience. Should be an image below if I figured out how to post pictures. Planning on running up the east side first. Trek along the top may be the challenging part. Coming down from Dulth we can coast home, make some time up if needed or we have a few options to call it a day if needed. I'm cheating the SW corner a little but thought I should keep it conservative for the 1st attempt. I'll be two up with the wife so it should be interesting. I don't have to get her permission as long as she can go along.

So what do you think of the route?

I am from San Diego.... go to Imperial Beach head north up (the strand) towards Coronado... on your left side over a big berm of sand is where the Seals training area used to be... as a young lad ... my buddies and I would consume barley pops .. then park our bikes on the side of the road, hop the fence..(posted fed property) lay low and watch what we could, until MPs would run us off :yahoo:

The fence was low and this was pre- Sept 11th.... they would catch us once in a while and give us a scare... then they would let us go... it was kind of a game and the MPs liked the chase........... :assassin:
