Chasing a worsening vibration problem that manifested itself mightily between 4000 and 5000 rpm, I did the UTB this afternoon. Did not get carried away, just cleaned up the lines somewhat, so got them within 1/2 bar (Motion=Pro merc gauge) of each other. #2 was winning the bar race to begin with, at 4 thou it was a good 2 bars ahead of the rest of the pack, with #4 running a distant 4th. Test ride revealed the motorcycle I had fallen in love with a year ago today (timing seemed right, Happy Birfday Fwankie!! )
Vibes reduced substantially throughout the rpm range, and the 4500 vibe that, in hot and humid weather especially, had grown horrid, to the point where 20 miles of freeway cruising at 75-80 mph reduced the hands to dead meat. The hot, humid thing was especially noticeable during CFO, and it's 90-95 degree ultra humid horrors. Finer tuning is in the forecast, with clearing vibes to come, and winds from the west at 75-140 mph...... Frank, by the way, has 9300 showing on the Digi-Wonder Display, and so far, is tickfreerific. And it's a good thing I scored that spare FI setup a while back, I suggest not using a screwdriver to try to hold the center throttle bar assembly in place while pressing down on the left or right adjusters, that spring disappears into the nether-regions of the engine quite nicely, thank you...
