I make my own dinosaur beads.

Save the little silica gel packs that come in electronic boxes: mix them 50/50 with love beads (when the string breaks) and add 40 ounces when mounting a tire.

The silica gel removes (oh, alright - sequesters) the moisture.

The love beads bring good karma (Dali Lama reference)

The 40 ounces help pass the time, and help you imagine that this whole thing could work.

Or, use stick-on weights, and unleash the Beast!

I just throw in a handfull of small ball bearings before I set the beads....added benefit is they make a kewl rattle thump sound like a Hardley...

Tonight I finally finished modifying the HF Tire Changer. Mojoblocks fitted and my long breaker bar in place of the HF pivot bar that won't fit through the center of the FJR rear wheel (sigh).

All that took about an hour and some swearing. Usually the swearing is reserved for removing tires, but not this time.

Once the wheel was off the bike, tire changing took 15 minutes. About five minutes to remove the PR3, five minutes to clean the rim, and five more to fit the General Tires G-Max.

The car tire went on fast and easily. Some waxy tire lube and the first bead pushed over by hand. A bit more lube and the Mojobar whipped the second bead over without breaking sweat. Color me impressed.

I forgot to balance the rim, so now I'll get it as balanced as I can before seating the beads (while I can still rotate the tire).

ps ... I did swear a bit because my garage floor is now covered in Dyna-beads. Best place for them, I say.

My last tire change, my Yamaha guy used weights that clip to the center ridge of the rim. They're cool. Where the heck do I find those??

HRZ ... They are not easy to find, and last I heard they were expensive. The main disadvantages are getting them off without scratching your wheel, and where to put them if the light-spot coincides with the point where a spoke meets the rim.

I'll probably stay with the stick-on type.

I bought mine in various sizes from the Yamaha parts fiche about 6 years ago. They had a Yami part number and were just added to a parts order from whatever parts supplier was cheapest at the time. Not sure if they're still available with all the new EPA environmental restrictions, but they sure are nice to use and continually reuse.

Added on edit: Looks like they are still available, but the price has gone up!

10g p/n 5MT-25398-00-00 $5.78 Ron Ayers

20g p/n 5MT-25398-10-00 $5.78

30g p/n 5MT-25398-20-00 $5.18

Why the heaviest is the cheapest I'll never know?
