This bike is a new purchase for me and today was my first opportunity to get out and ride where I believe God intended bikes like this to be ridden. It would have to be short jaunt today as I was only able to cut the work day short a couple of hours. I left my place and headed for the hills, though I knew I would not likely get too far with snow fall in the recent past. I headed up the Clackamas River, a local favorite of mine. I was more than impressed with the handling of the FJR. I stopped along the way to take a few pics....

Shot of the FJR along side the river,

It didn't take long and the road turned gravel covered, making these 25mph corners about 5mph; turned around here,

River is running strong this time of year,

The ride in all was about 4 hours long and reinforced exactly why I needed to get back in the saddle after taking the last 8 years off. It was a great way to spend one of our unseasonably sunny spring days here in the Pacific Northwest!

Welcome from an 05 in Tigard. Yes, it was a great day for little ride here, however several of us are set to ride to Seattle on Sat for some bike work and the forecast for that is not great.

Welcome and nice pics. I was itching to ride today with the great weather, but just couldn't get away from work. Thanks for letting me ride vicariously with you. The weekend looks lousy unfortunately.

Very nice photo's.

I wish I had that scenery around here in South Florida.

At least is was 68 degrees on the way to work and probably going to be 80 for the ride home today. :D

Enjoy the new ride. There is definitely a lot of great scenery and roads to explore up in these parts. Keep an eye on the PNW section of the forum for meets and so forth. Good group of folks up here.

Welcome from Oregon City, I go out that way all the time, actually, I am going to head up there this afternoon. It doesn't take long to get up to snow level. That is a beautiful drive all the way to Detroit Lake during the summer.

What kind of pillion backrest is that and how does it attach?
I'm making a guess but it looks like it is this one: Pirate's Lair
My guess looking at the oval cut in the mounting bracket is that this is backrest. Click here

Unfortunately I am not going to be very helpful on this as the backrest was on the bike when I bought it and has no badging on it. Here are a couple of pictures of it, based on the look of the mounting bracket I would have to say that FJRFrank is probably correct in his selection. I have not done any two up riding as of yet so I can't comment on its performance, what I will say is that the material does not match that of the stock seat. It looks a little tacky, IMHO.

It appears to bolt on using the factory bolt or at least the factory holes. It sits ever so slightly up off the paint.

A big welcome and enjoy the bike

As looking at your backrest, IF the frame work is aluminum it could be from Premier cycle accessories The frame work resembles his work and metal material used

+1 on that. And welcome again from O.C. We have all kinds of fun roads to play on, just don't tell the others! I've been known to ride to Detroit for ice cream now and then.

Oops!

Another run I like is 213 South to Salem, then cut across the Willamette and run out 20 to 223, then pick up Kings Valley Hwy down to Wren. Then it's option to Philomath and back to the 5, or West to Newport, (or Waldport via 34), and up the coast to 18 or 6 before heading back to P-town.
