First, I want to sincerely thank all of the forum members and friends that sent well wishes and offers of help after my get off. The words of encouragement have gone a long way in helping to heal my body and my mind.

My right wrist should be out of it's cast by mid-March. I am still awaiting word on my left shoulder should which has been a motherf**cker of pain and discomfort. Almost impossible to get comfortable and sleeping is almost impossible even with the good pharmacy stuff. It is getting better s-l-o-w-l-y. After tomorrows specialist visit I should know more on it's recovery.

My beloved FJR is sitting in a salvage yard in Bakersfield, CA. It was moved from Bishop, CA a couple of days after the accident. IF there is a peep that lives near Bakersfield and has a digital camera I would love a few pictures of the bike as I have not seen the damage. PM me if interested or able.

I have been asked if I will ride again. Soon after the accident I made mention to my lovely and caring wife that I might hang it up. Her quote " you will not make that decision now."

After taking time to think about what happened and determine if mentally I could get on two wheels again I ordered a replacement riding jacket from NewEnough. BadCat will ride again. :clapping:

More to come.

Burk

As you know, I'm retired and worthless;
I'll second that!!!

Glad to hear you plan on riding again. I know there is always some soul-searching after a crash, and believe me, the first time actually back on the bike you'll have some confidence building to go through again, but I could not imagine you not riding.

Here's hoping that shoulder starts improving muy rapido!

Great to hear you will ride again. I have had two shoulder repairs in two years. This one feels like it took. I am gaining strength and a lot less pain. Take care and listen to those phyical therapists.

Burke, I didn't know about your wreck. Is there a thread somewhere so I can catch up? I'm sorry your in this boat, I can tell you the ride is long and boring! I'm glad your gonna ride again, I hope it's sooner than later. Please take care!

First of all, I'm sorry your shoulder is bothering you as much as it is. I'm sure that will continue for a little while, but remember, in the grand scheme of things, it really is just a little while. Little comfort right now, I'm sure.

Soon after the accident I made mention to my lovely and caring wife that I might hang it up. Her quote " you will not make that decision now."
Second, that right there is a damned good and damned intelligent woman. Tell her I said so.

I remember you making a similar comment ("I may not ride again...") when we spoke last. After I'd hung up, I thought back on your remark and wished I'd come up with a more profound response than I did, regardless of your drug-induced fogginess and your adrenaline hangover. But I am only as smart as I am.

For what it's worth, I hung it up for nearly 15 years after my 5th accident. (Yes, I said 5th. I'm slower than most and it takes a few good knocks to get through to me sometimes.). Though part of my hang-up was financial, most of it stemmed from a lack of confidence in my own judgment. It took a lot of soul searching, and some support from my wife, for me to get over that hurdle and back on two wheels. I sure am glad I did it and I'm delighted to hear that you're reconsidering. We need as many skilled, considerate, responsible riders as we can get to represent our lifestyle.

Can't wait to hear where the bike shopping leads you.

Dave

Burk, ya know it really pains me to agree with Pin but in this case I have too.

You know how ugly my leg is but I have put over 200,000 miles on it since I made it ugly (well me and a drunk in a pickup truck).

You, sir, have one helluva woman there... hope you realize that. :)

Good to hear that you are healing. B)

Ahh, it's always nice to read posts form members who had a nasty get off. Sounds like you picked the right woman.

Hang in there and get well fast!

Heal well, enjoy the drugs as best ya can.

...You know how ugly my leg is ...
...And it's your best-looking feature. :D

Keep healing well, Burk. I'll be on the lookout for an '06 for you.

If the insurance guys total the bike I am going for brand-new! I appreciate the offer of looking for an '06.

You guys and gals are right, I picked a great one to be my wife. :yahoo:

As you know, I'm retired and worthless :haha:
Skooter, make note of this admission!!

But I am only as smart as I am! Yeah.... and just how smart is that? :headbonk:
Dave
