I just heard from a guy who took his family over Nacimiento, pulling a camper with his truck!

He said the first third was fine, the next third got interesting and then he rode the brakes down to the coast! After pulling over for a moment, to let a buddy catch up, he realized he had no brakes left at all!

Lucky for him a good samaritan hooked him up with new brake fluid and helped him bleed the brakes to get him back on his way!

Just thought I'd relay the story for any who might not be familiar with "the back way into to places"!
And for you folks who don't get out our way much, with all this talk about Nacimiento-Fergusson Road, here are a few piccies I dug up from a ride we did in '08. Try taking a trailer down this. Fun road when it's empty, probly not so much when it's the main detour for the vacation crowd.

I was just in Cali for the last 5 days and tried to travel up PCH, expecting to take the Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd detour. Not possible. They have closed PCH about 5 miles north of Ragged Point. I had to turn around, go back down to Cambria and take 46 over to 101. Made for a long day getting to Monterey. Obviously there are other scenic routes you can take but just wanted to let folks know that you can't go north and make it to Plaskett or Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd anymore. Super hottie construction dude said the road would reopen late June.

See posts above^^

The actual slide is about 2 miles south of Gorda. Haven't been up to see where the actual road blockade is placed, though.

That would explain your situation as the slide is still in place. I have a route listed above that will offer a very scenic and twisty detour. As of yesterday, CalTrans is still saying mid June for the opening
