The routes look great, I can't wait!

Thank you Jeff & everyone else involved in the ride planning.

Now if you only can pick 2 of rides for the best twisties, which would you recommend?

# 2 looks like a must?

I've riden most of the roads on # 4 & 5, so how do you rank them?

Tom

Quick question about Virginia and radar.... I realize it is illegal to use a radar detector, but is it illegal to have it in your luggage? locked in your side bag?

I'm guessing the best bet would be to leave it in the hotel room, providing they have a wall safe. Right?

Hi Tom, I myself haven't decided which routes to take. Right now I am trying to work out making packets for each rider that'll include, Schedule of events, route description & all maps & text printed in color. It's looking good right now but definitely takes cooridination. I haven't counted, but we have around 126 bikes registered right now... & a packet for each... it's taking some coordination. Please be patient. Will let everyone know whats up, Heidi

Tom, sidebag or not connected to the bike & running should be fine.

It's not a joint! :drag: I'm sure it's just illegal to use, not to be in possession of!

P.S. Route 2 does look fun!!!! :thumbsupsmiley:

They're all looking good to me...wish I had time to ride em all! :clapping:

I probably will ride em all...just not all at the EOM. :yahoo:

Tom,

#1 is good for sightseeing, with an occassional dose of twisties. if you've never been to that part of VA.

# 2 is a good ride with several technical stretches.

#3 is its VA counterpart of # 2 in that it has several technical reaches. And its a part of Rt 16S you may have never ridden (and is the best part of 16 in either state IMHO). If all goes as planned, I'm gonna ride it again Sun just to make sure its still OK!!!! :yahoo:

#4 is a tour of some of the state's finest scenery with a good dose of twisties built in. CR-82 down into and through the New River Gorge is the most technical of all the roads and is VERY adventourous - proceed with due caution. I think it will be the most popular route.

#5 is a plain nice ride, not too technical, but always sites to see and always stuff going on ridewise.

#6 is a day of ride and repeat twisties that will leave you grinning from ear to ear. The way the turns lay on Potts Mtn on 311 is just something that cannot be described, it has to be experienced.

My personal favs are 2, 3, and 4 in no particular order. I ride 6 when I have a need to blow off some steam.

Thanks Jim,

Looks like 2 & 3 will be the ones, but your making 6 sound pretty tempting.

Appreciate all the hard work! Just entering these routes into my GPS is going to take a couple of hours and all I'm doing is copying what you've already done.

Lee, I might be misreading your post in some way... but GPS routes are already set up. All that you'll need to do is download them to your unit. If in the process of inputting this info, you may want to stop.

Heidi

Since I'm apparently the anti-christ for owning a Magellan GPS, I'm really hoping I can get the waypoint/POI info so that I CAN try to build the routes on my unit.

Hopefully, I can and it won't be too painful.

If you ARE the anti-christ...you won't need the way points. Just ask the devil where to go!

Jmarran,

PM me with the file format you require. I am using POIConverter on the original S&T files. Perhaps I can provide you with a suitable route file for your GPS.

Jeff

Jeff - - Thanks for the hard work plotting the routes.

:dribble: Can anyone tell me where the gpx files are posted?

Thanks for plotting the routes...#2, #4 and #5 is loaded on my GPS...can't wait to lay down some rubber. :assassin: :yahoo:

Anybody using a plain old fashioned MAP? I have to spend my money on gas and food-- I can't afford a GPS.

I'm sure they'll be enough organized groups that you won't need a GPS unless you want to venture out on your own.

I think I used mine once last year to look for gas or something :)

So all you gotta do is get there.

(same goes for me)

Heidi,

I do not see where the GPS routes are posted. Am I missing something here? I'd sure like to get them in my GPS. Also looking forward to doing one or more of these ride with you Heidi :yahoo: , as wild man Dave will not be with me this year, in fact none of the bunch I was with last year will be coming.

Thanks for the work on the routes.

GPS instructions.......print map.......load in tank bag........follow the guy in front of you.

There are so many beautiful roads in that area.......I look forward to being lost!
