I guess all that metal stays there permanent? Don't bones just heal anymore? I applaud your fortitude and resolve to get through this. Hang in there!
Yes. The surgeon said it was all no-deposit, no-return hardware. Normally a broken bone will heal well as long as it is aligned correctly. Those whose bones are pulverized into powder need a bit more help. I was able to sneak an unauthorized peek at his pre-op films. The doc who let me look, also stood with her jaw dropped at the sight of the damage.

Thanks for your good wishes. One day at a time. It's made eaiser knowing that we have so many good people thinking about us, and praying for us.

Well, my right wrist has exactly the same hardware as his left wrist, and his right elbow looks identical to CISCO's left elbow.

The only difference between me and you two is I didn't fall off a motorcycle to break by wrist/arm at the joint and require hardware. I was on my then 9 year old's dirt bike and going about 5 mph in our driveway!

By the way, both Cisco and I made good recoveries as I am sure your hubby will!

LOL! The doc said that each of the injuries alone is something he commonly sees in his orthopedic patients. What the big difference is here, is seeing all the injuries on the same person at the same time.

Glad to hear that you and Cisco made good recoveries. That's encouraging.

Jill

Alot of hardware there. No more sneaking through the airport metal detectors without them going off. I'm proud to say my 18 yr old son makes that type of hardware that holds bones together at a very high tech machine shop here in MN.

Get well and hope you are back on two wheels soon!
