'Upstate' means different things to different people, mostly depending on where you are from. Since you mention Americade, I'll assume you are talking about the Adirondacks.Looking for suggestions on things to do & places to see in Upstate NY.Been to Americade.Several times.Looking for different things/places, non touristy stuff.Going July 22-August2.
There are lots of "quaint" small towns scatterd throughout the Adirondacks and lots of old-time lodges. My wife and I stayed at a plece called Hemlock Hall many years ago, which is good for TOTAL relaxation (no TVs, telephones, WIFI etc). They serve breakfast and dinner in the main lodge and assign seats on a rotating schedule so you meet nearly everyone else staying there. We're heading up to Rachacha in July. Looking forward to overcast/rain and lots of flat, straight roads.I'm a big fan of a lot of the roads around the Finger Lakes Region . . . I travel them at least once a week . . . but you can't go wrong in the Adirondaks and Catskills either . . . I get over that way as often as possible as well . . .
