Stumbled across this. If you like old school maps. This is great!

They are pre-packaged using the standard 7.5 minute, 1:24,000 base but with some twists:

  • Page 1 is an overview map showing the Quad in context
  • Pages 2 through 5 are the standard USGS Quads cut in quarters to fit on standard printers
  • Hillshading has been added to each page of the PDF to help visualize the topography

Once you go to the PDF view of an area you should see icons at the top of the page, including a printer icon (if by download you mean print it, anyway). Great resource, Bungie. Thanks.

Zoom way in until you see the icons that represent each map segment
You guys must be seeing something different than I am. When I "zoom way in" I get a pop-up box of the quad I'm in. When I click the box I get an offer to buy the "• Waterproof • Tear-Resistant • Topographic Map" for $11.95. Nothing to download, nothing to print, nothing free.

Using my iPad (Safari), I choose a quad, and it opens on another page (pdf). From there I can either print it, or copy it to Books, Kindle, a document app, or Acrobat. If on a computer, you should be able to "print page" or right click and "save as", then print your saved copy.

When you click on the quad, a box appears with a little version. Click on that map, and it opens a PDF.
