I fabbed up a mini shelf for my set up

I also had the remote rewired so all the LED's are different colors so you know what radar is being picked up, especially in the dark all the red stock LED's looked exactly the same

Nice fab skills No one! Appreciate the pics. I think I'm either going with just a mount on the reservoir for the main unit or the concealed unit . Where are you guys stashing the main unit? I've put an alarm unit under the driver seat, there might be more room aft, wondering if the fuel tank would degrade the reception though?

I'm guessing that you fabbed up that dash plate and made template first? Velcroed in place?

The main unit? Its in the box on top of the break reservoir... Its in the pictures

No, on that front part over the dash I built the little "capsule" and it was to shallow to have the stock display up there. I also had to water proof that board. I tore that all up as well. Its just the board pressed into a cut out in the part above the dash. This set up does not come out, I leave it installed 100%... Been there 35K miles. If ya need any help just let me know..

As one of the other guys has said, you can hide the V1 and wire up any way you want. Ill be happy to help if ya like, just let me know. Thanks ! ! ! !

Yeah I was wondering about where some guys are hiding the unit and how it's affecting reception, I saw yours no problem, lol

My link to the thin remote display was broken, so I fixed it. It's thin enough that the RJ11 connector is the thickest part of the item. I got it from a guy on eBay who builds them.

I've decided to just mount the main unit on the reservoir for the time being (ordered Garauld's mount) I'll work on a solution to weatherproof mount it under the headlight area one of these days and then use the c.d unit on the dash somewhere. Thanks for all of the pics, suggestions and ideas

FWIW, if the mount doesn't work out with the weatherproof cover idea, just send it back and I'll give you a refund. ;)

That's a really generous offer, much appreciated but I wouldn't do that to ya, thanks though!

Don't forget that Forum vendor N/Line also makes an aluminum box with the necessary cut outs and a plexi front.

It's $50, but built well, powder coated, and works perfect with the dash. I use it on my N/Line shelf, with some velcro underneath to mount to the shelf. Works great and is reasonably water resistant. I've ridden in pouring rain, and I've noticed that the main unit is shielded from water just fine, but the adapter unit is prone to have moisture enter where the power/phone cords come in. When this happens, it shuts itself off (or shorts, not really sure). I just let it dry out.

Also, I wrapped the sides and parts of the top with electric tape to prevent the metal box from rubbing on the V1 and wearing down the V1's finish.

I didn't know about the enclosure from N-line, thanks! I could modify that to be completely waterproof and experiment with different locations, I was going to try the V1 in the console too but it doesn't fit very well, plus I don't want to lose that space for the items I currently keep there. I may eventually just get an Escort 9500ix though, it's definitely top dog...at the moment.

Read your link to your testing and just wanted to add fwiw; I tested a laser jammer a few years ago with a helpful Deputy Sherriff and he gave me the low down; they typically acquire the target vehicle at 300 ft or less and aim for a headlight. Since my jammer was up on the windshield it didn't work at all when he did that, he told me that when he aimed at my windshield and didn't get an immediate reading he simply changed the aim position and picked me right up.

Meh, different strokes for different folks; for me it'd be like buying a ticket to roller coaster park and only riding the kiddie coasters...yawner. YMMV;)

Late to the party, where is everybody?

Anyway, here is my setup. Pardon the crappy cell phone picture..

The Sat. Radio, GPS and V1 audio all mix into my earphones.

OK, this is going to sound pretty radical.

It makes the detector invisible (S2 battery unit).

It doesn't cost a fortune. In fact it doesn't cost anything more than the detector.

Thieves can't steal it when you stop for lunch.

Not sure that many on this forum can handle the simplicity.

...but...

A radar detector works really well in your jacket pocket, with a small helmet speaker or ear bud.

;)

One of the best features on the V1 is the bogey counter and the directional arrows, huge aid in determining false alarms and when a radar toting copper is sitting in a false alarm zone.

Been doing some research on laser jammers as it's been awhile since I did and apparently the technology has really come through to match the lidar guns.

Found this testing site and subsequently the Laser Star Pro which as it turns out is 100% effective right down to point blank range and the cost is equal to or less than one lidar ticket. The testers use several different lidar guns and have vids up on youtube and are not affiliated with any laser jammer manufacturer.

Just passing the info along, not affiliated with them in any way at all. And yes, I'm ordering one
