I'm looking for suggestions on rides throughout Vancouver Island. We are thinking of going June 30th-July 4th. I only have limited knowledge of the Victoria area, but would love to explore as much of the island as we can in 4-5 days. Not camping, so any suggestions for lodging is appreciated as well. Hot tubs are high on the list of amenities. I was one of the unfortunate that missed the rally up there last year.

Thanks,

Weren't some of those rides posted in that thread? If so, you should be able to access the information there. Actually, I just left our hotel area and went poking along the coastal highway (I think it's listed as 19A as the newer 4-lane highway is 19.

One of the rides was West on Hwy 4 to Tofino. A lovely stretch of road and beautiful vies getting to a quaint fishing/tourist town for lunch. Uhmmmm....the day I went it was pouring rain but still a great trip.

I don't remember if anyone took the trip up Hwy 19 to Port Hardy.

From Campbell River, Hwy 28 West to Gold River was a lovely ride. Breath taking scenery and views of Campbell Lake and Buttle Lake.

Lodging...I can't help you and the resident of Vacouver Island no longer posts here.......so she's no help either.

What Mike said. Definitely do the ride on Hwy. 4 out to Tofino, that's probably the best road on the island. It's a fun motorcycle ride going over the pass with spectacular views and Tofino is a neat town. Lot's to do there, whale watching etc.

The highway from Campbell River to Gold River is a very good ride but there is not much to see/do in Gold River. Do this one just for the ride.

There is another good ride at the southern end of the island going west from Victoria to Port Renfrew and you can complete it by doing a loop up to Lake Cowichan. It's a bit hard to describe but if you PM me with your email address, I can scan and send you a map.

You'll have a great time!

Thanks all for the great suggestions.

As it stands right now we leave next Wed afternoon, come back Monday for the fireworks in Seattle. Still not sure if we want to go to Victoria 1st via Port Angeles or if we will go to Vancouver and up the coast then over to the north end of the Is and back down. So little to see, soo much time...

Years ago, I took the ferry from Anacortes to Vancouver then rode up to Campbell River. This goes right through the San Juan Islands (which you know), that ferry ride should be on everyone's bucket list.

My 2cents.

Have fun.
