Planning on Whistler-Pemberton-Lillooet-Cache Crk.-Merritt-Princeton-Keremeos-Nighthawk, home over N. Cascades next week (2 days). Needed is advice on most expedient route through Vancouver in the earlyish morning traffic coming from Blaine? Anything else going on ?

I just made pretty much the same ride last week, spent the note in Lilooet. Did hwy 2 because 20 was closed. Crossed into Canada at Lyndon. Straight up to 1, but got tied up trying to dodge toll bridge. Didn't have Canadian currency. Hopefully some canuks will post up.

Toll bridge?

Yea, there is a toll bridge on hwy 1 north of Sydney. Or at least signs indicating such. Didn't have any colored money so I went urban to avoid. Hopefully a Canukistan will verify.

I'm local, have done all those roads in the last month, what were you thinking specifically? Feel free to send me a PM if you like.

Just did Neah Bay and back today, from Vancouver, awesome day!!!

Don't know of any Sydney. But there is a toll on the new Port Mann Bridge on Hwy 1 heading north.

It's only a buck fifty for bikes. https://www.treo.ca/tolls-and-fees/

I'm guessing you can pay at a toll booth?

You could always follow 99 north from the border, avoiding Hwy 1 - hope you have a good GPS????

I don't live in the Lower Mainland and only go there if I really, really, have to

A little late to the party! The toll on the Port Mann is by license plate photo and then mailed to you. Not sure if out of province receive a bill? I don't think if I didn't live in B.C. I would be inclined to pay! If you are early, between 5 and 6 am I would shoot up 99 and cross the Lions Gate bridge (no toll) then head up to the highway either Capilano road (NorthVan)or Taylor Way(WestVan) which is either left or right coming off the LGB. I didn't notice if you planned to ride from Lillooet to Spences Bridge then across 8 to Merritt or Hwy 1 from Cashe Creek to Kamloops then down to Merritt. If you plan to go via Kamloops take 5A south which is the old highway and is a fantastic high speed run to Merritt.

going south from cache creek a bit and hang a left on 97c to merritt, nice road, and we get to look at the big pit and tailings piles (not something BC talks about).

Not sure? I think 97D? Going east from Ashcroft through Logan Lake (where the mine is) and ending up in Merritt! Not as good a road as 8 from Spences Bridge to Merritt but if Mines and tailing ponds is your thing! Aspen Grove to Princeton is a great ride. Not sure about your time but... if you go east from Princeton to Green Mtn road it is worth going. It comes out at Penticton where you can double back to 3 and get over to Nighthawk. Just a few roads I have the pleasure of riding locally?
