Let me start off by saying, this is a Biased Opinion, and you hard-core FJR folks will likely hate me for this review, but I wanted to post my experience nonetheless.
The reason this is biased is because my father is a salesperson there. The reason you all will hate me is because of the ease of which I picked up this FINE machine. I had known for about 2 1/2 yearts that I wanted a nice motorcycle (I have been riding 13 years, but always sub-$1000 motorcycles) which I could count on for 4+ hour rides not to break down and leave me stranded (I travel often for work). As I did not want to be dissapointed, I wanted to get the best one they had. (Besides, once I saw the FJR, my bank account was toast!).
I WANTED the Blue FJR, and was going to wait until nicer weather to pick one up, but then Yamaha decided to go with "Cherry Cola" for the 07 year and I panicked. I called down to the dealership, and they had an AE sitting there...in stock...as in not spoken for. Not Blue, but Silver...hmmm (I should mention all of my other vehicles are silver). I had them run my credit and got a thumbs up from Yamaha. Drove the two hours down there to pick up the bike, got my pre-delivery orientation, signed paperwork and picked up a matching helmet all in under 30 minutes on a Sunday afternoon (just before closing time). I have spent more time buying a couch than it took to get this motorcycle! Obviously, they whole experience was the best vehicle buying experience I have ever had, and I had a nice drive home through Fillmoore on the 126 to boot!
Now thanks to this forum, I have found all the things that I need to "Farkle" the bike out with. A new saddle (a trip to Ojai, methinks), top case, and cruise control are DEFINITELY in my future. Will be taking it to San Diego this Sunday, but already have the 600 mile service coming up this Friday!
