Polaris is announcing today that they are shutting down Victory. No tears from me; while the quality of build and ride has increased significantly since the first year, I have always thought them to be cumbersome turds. When you have Indian, you don't need Victory.

I thought the Victory was a good competitor for Harley. It was the loudest bike I ever heard when run with open pipes, so I didn't like to be anywhere near one when the owner was riding it at full volume. I never could get used to the look of the Vision.

The front looked like Bozo the Clown screaming.

Even though cruisers are absolutely not my thing, it was cool to see a well-capitalized competitor jump in and breathe some life into the motorcycle market, whatever the niche. Sorry to see it go but hopefully they'll remain committed to the Indian brand and give buyers another (hopefully) high quality option.

Interesting, they still had the big Victory sign at their joint Indian-Victory display at the DC bike show on saturday. But I don't remember seeing any Victory bikes, just Indians. But I wasn't really looking that hard.

Having both owned and ridden 4 models. I can say they were neither cumbersome, nor a turd. Lol

They were as reliable and fun to ride as my FJR. Hate to see them go, but the writing was on the wall once Indian was acquired.

That is why they are called "opinions". I've ridden them since Year One, and that covers more than 4 models. They would definitely be in my Top 5, if I was looking for something to pull a plow with. YMOV.

Always thought the Vision was butt-*** ugly too but don't mind the look of the Cross Country that my son has. I'm definitely not a cruiser guy either, for it's riding position or it's inability to carve canyons.

I am both saddened and disappointing with this news. I have owned three Victory Motorcycles. My favorite bike, by a land slide is the Vision. On that bike you could carve up the canyon despite its 900 pound girth. The Vision cast aluminum backbone made for a hell of a nimble touring bike. I would still own the Vision if I hadn't had kids. I have rode many many great miles on victory motorcycles. I am hoping someone will snatch up the brand.

Victory brought a reliable, more performance oriented, modern option to the American Cruiser Market. I guess my tenure of owning polaris motorcycles is done, and I find little appealing with the Indian brand.

In the mean time I will continue laying down the rubber with the FJR.

Funny thing is I never owned a Victory or had any desire to own one. However, I hate to see them go. I hate to see that one of the choices in American made bikes is not going to be made anymore.

I own two Japanese bikes, but I would like to see several American made bike companies doing well. I was hoping HD, Victory and Indian would continue to grow and prosper. Then one day they might make something that is not a cruiser that I would just have to have. You know like something Motus is doing, but at a price I can afford.

Right now I'll just stick with Yamaha.
