Holy **** commin through my window Batman...That was not cool at all. Yesterday almost that exact thing happened to one of our Motor officers. He was south bound on a 35mph street and a lady made a left turn in front of him. She said she didn't see him. He broke an arm and injured his hip, but will be fine. Rectal-cranial inversion is alive and well. ALWAYS ride with your high beam on during the day.

This clip should be required viewing for all Cagers:

( of course I flunked also! )
Ok, that was pretty enlightening. I'd like to make a wise-acre comment, but I don't want to tip anybody off. I flunked it too. How about this motorcyclicst awareness ad for a bit more bang?

IdahoSTAR TV Ad
great commercial for t.v. however, did you notice when they showed it from the m/clist's perspective, his speedo had an indicated 10mph? he was definitely going faster in the cager's perspective crash.

fwiw, that appears to be a copy of the british one, saw it a couple years ago. (edit---found it)

I think the high beam topic nas been discussed before but I too ride with high beam on during the day. Here in Canada all vehicles built since 1990 have day time running lights. It's that slight edge that we need in a sea of headlights. I'm almost considering some sort of tint on my lights to make me stand out even more. I rarely have someone cut me off.

I've seen those before through training. It also works in reverse. If you tell someone to specifically watch out for something, they'll sometimes see it even when it doesn't exist.

That's the logic behind modulators. There's a debate on their effectiveness too. No doubt they're more visible, but some think they're annoying.

The Brit ad was great.

I don't worry so much about cagers pulling in from the side road, as I normally use traffic to my advantage.

The situation that worries me is the one that got me years ago. A lady was coming at me and suddenly made an instant unsignaled left across my path. There was nowhere to go and the only saving grace was that I was on a street-legal dirt bike, where my habitual reaction was to stand on the pegs. I was lucky enough to go over the roof but it cracked my helmet and put me in the hospital.

I had a modulator a few bikes ago and it did annoy drivers who I'd ride behind but that bike did stand out from the background. The fork slider lights and anything else that makes you optically bigger is a good thing.
