Before practicing figure 8's and circles in front of the homestead, I told my son the videographer, "It's possible I'm going to drop the bike. If I do. Put the camera down, and run over and help me pick it up." He said he would probably keep videotaping, because it would make better video. It didn't come to that. Phew!

Video here.

Looks alot like the kind of riding I have to do everytime I go into downtown Chicago on the bike. Yesterday is was with the added fun of rain. Nothing more fun than metal grate bridge crossings in the rain.

James, I found your 5th gear and will drop it in the mail Tuesday. Then you will have one just like the rest of us. :D

Good job. Usually when someone says watch this, bad things follow.

Nice video production, your son is an excellent videographer; i could tell by his response to your request

-yes and he did a good job with the video as well!

Nice one JB. Making it look easy. I have never tried the hanging off the side bit and have never had much of a problem with turning like that. Try it without hanging off, I am sure you will do it just as easily.

The "hanging off" is how Lee Parks teaches U-Turns, counter balances the bike so you can lean it over more for a tighter turn.

You guys are too nice.

Lookit JB, you gotta SLIDE to the side not this hoppity cheek at a time stuff ;)

Ya wackadoo! :derisive:

Great head turns. Keep your knees close to the tank and move your upper body a bit more out, I mean shoulders, it will allow you to lean even more and make it tighter.

Nice music.

Fair comment, just not something I have ever done. I find it easy enough without moving and usually with pillion onboard.

Thanks for the tips. I agree. I'll work on that stuff. I know I can be smoother and tighter. I was nervous in front of the camera, thinking I was going to fall, so that created a kind of artificial environment in terms of real concentration. For example, although I was turning my head, I wasn't necessarily really seeing where I wanted to go.

But what I find happening is that I fight the urge to counter-balance, because I am so used to leaning with the machine. Leaning away from it is something I have to fight my body to do. And there's so much happening at once, that concentration is paramount.

Anyway, thanks for the tips. I will keep practicing and maybe post another vid sometime.
