herfjr,

Thanks for the v-journey! I was planning Nova Scotia for this July nut then NAFO was announced! :clapping: Do you have a trip plan written up anywhere on the forum as well? I would love to get the names and locations of the cabin rentals and camp grounds you and Jim where at, especially the cabin rentals!

Thanks again for sharing the journey,

Violione [Vee-a-lone-ee]

Nice report! It really comes at an opportune time for me I'm in the early stages of planning a trip to NS this spring. Unfortunately I won't have as much time as you two did. So where should I concentrate my time? Thanks!
If you stay in North Sydney (where we did...at a Campground https://www.armofgoldcamp.com/ ) you can do the Cabot Trail (including Meat Cove & the Skyline Walking Trail, we recommend this) on one day and do the loop around Lake Bra d 'Or on the second day. The Lake Bra d 'Or area is known for Bald Eagles. If you would like additional info, let us know.

Jim

Beautiful trip and the vid is so well done. Thanks.

This is our goal this summer, but the better half doesn't camp. Are there plenty of motels around the island?

Yes, we did stay in motels as well. We kind of played it by ear and did not have any reservations. Keep in mind it was late May, early June so there weren't a lot of tourists yet.

We have no trip plan posted on the forum. Here's the info on some of the places we stayed starting with the cabins....

One cabin (the first one in the video) was in Maine called Blueberry Patch Hotel on US Rt 1, Jonesboro, ME.

There was another great little cabin that we stayed in Wolfville (east of Hall's Harbor) called Roselawn on 32 Main St.

Another one (that was in the video) in North Sydney, NS called Arms of Gold. Jim put a link to it in an earlier post. We had planned on camping there but the Owner gave us a good deal on the available cabin. He had just opened the campground for the season on the day we arrived. It was a no brainer to accept the offer for the cabin.

The first campground was in Advocate, NS but I did not like it and I would not recommend it.

The other camground was in Canso, NS. That one was called Seabreeze. That had a spectacular view.

Keep in mind that we were on a budget so that the cabins we stayed in were nice but not extravagent. Halifax was the only place we splurged and only because it was raining...and I didn't care anymore about saving money.

HerFJR &Zoom, nice video....I enjoyed it. I was there last year with a group of folks, but you did a better job of covering the place than we did. Thanks,

Jim

Nice vid herfjr, I saw zooms original post of your ride.

You did a nice job with it and made it very enjoyable.

The scenery looks pretty barren, looks like there is not much vegatation up there.

The coastline ride must have been very nice.

I got myself a couple of those little roll up chairs from your pics, thanks.

The first singer is Nora Jones. I'm glad the video is being enjoyed. This was my first attempt at putting together a video and I enjoyed the process. I have some better ideas for the next trip. I look forward to our next vacation, but this helps me through the cold weather.
Iris,

I second the emotions. You have prepared a wonderful travelogue with some exquisitely beautiful music selections. I'm planning on the CFR in September and your effort helped to make the dream a reality. Thank you for a really fine effort!
