I was part of funding the "kickstarter" campaign for these and actually have had mine for about a year.

They are a simple splice into the license plate light. You then set the zero axis with the bike vertical (and not on the stands) to orient the unit using the supplied magnet.

I think it's a great product and it works as advertised, Any deceleration results in the LED's flashing to signal those behind that you're slowing down.

You can change up the pattern or the rate of the flashing as well as disable it completely by means of the magnet held up to the unit. ( It has no buttons or switches to wear out or potentially leak.
