Let's see, the Detroit Auto Show is a couple of months off. You have your 2nd most important new vehicle launch since the redesigned minivans hit the street. Your R&D guys have been doing a great job of keeping the mules covered, keeping the automags away from your upcoming launch party...and then the VP of Communications(a former comedian) lets this slip by on a corporate website. The entire Detroit Auto Show shindig is now blown...His resignation is tendered the next day. At Cerberus they don't mess around it appears...bye bye Jason Vines... :diablo:

Hmmmmm....he's a comedian and they have no sense of humor.

Happy trails to you!

Do they think a redesign is going to help all the electrical problems their products have?

oh snap! I've made some boo boos but that one is a doosey! Reminds me of when I was a brand new employee just out of school and I used the model name/number of the product in an internal email instead of the project code name. Had a few upper managers stop by to ask me about that as well as my TPS reports.

On a side note, I kinda like the new look!

Looks a little nicer than the current model but I'm still a Chevy fan since junior high school. (oh, around 1961/62, so I can patiently wait for the comparo's and see what shakes) As far as a slipped release picture, Chrysler needs all it can get as quick as possible to remain viable in the auto business.

Take a good look at that pic, It shows a true full four door crewcab, not a quadcab or a mega cab. I'm sure that that's what has them pissed off. It's there first cab like that since the 70's.

Looks like storage built-in to the rear quarters above the wheel wells. Charger-esque front-end no doubt a Giles touch. Rumor also has a larger displacement, higher HP, higher torque Hemi on the option list. If it has the MyGig system I might have to consider trading my '06 in for a new one...

It's a chrysler - been driving 39 years and have never, ever, ever, ever, owned a vehicle that was a bigger piece of steaming crap then the 2 x chryslers I've owned (92 VW came close). EVER. I'll never, ever, ever, ever, own a vehicle that has even driven near a chrysler plant. Just my opinion...

I've driven Mopars since I was 15. Gas and oil is all they've ever required. '87 Mazda I had wasn't bad, not great either. Biggest steaming pile of cow dung to ever grace my garage was a 1989 Honda Accord. After stranding my wife 6 times and spending the better part of 3 months in the shop over a period of 1-1/2 years we gave it the boot and never looked back. Feel sorry for whoever got that turd. Better place for it would have been the crusher.

We generally run'em to 100-120K miles and then get a new one so I haven't experienced long term issues.

Will be interesting to see if Toyota redesigns the Tundra to look even more like the new RAM as its pretty obvious who's styling cues they are following. I would consider the Jap manufacturers for my cars if they could just hire a real designer. The blandest auto designs come from our friends in the Pacific. Perhaps that explains some of their appeal to the 55 and up crowd.

HEY - you callin' me an old fart!! Not that you're wrong...

The following is my personal opinion.

I agree with the vanilla designs...with most cars today, but you're right about our Asian friends. It's funny, chrysler used to make the absolute ugliest cars on the planet; now they actually make some really nice looking cars, still crap, but good looking crap. Heck, if it was made by someone else I'd buy a Pacifica in a heartbeat.

My experience is exactly the opposite of yours. My daughter now drives our 99 Accord, after I drove it for 5 years, my son for another 2 and then Kate. Has about 180k on it this week and all I've ever done is change fluids/filters/tires/brake pads. I have an 04 Accord with 80k, same story. Lorie has an 07 CR-V and we'll see on that one.

I had an 87 Voyager and 96 Grand Caravan and neither came even close to our 99 Accord in mileage and I spent literally thousands fixing/replaceing stuff on them, to include a new trans on the 96. Hell, I think the 96 was newer when I got rid of it than when I bought it with all the crap I had to fix/replace!

I really wish I believed there was a US manufacturer who made a decent car - made in America and not in Canada as my 2 previous chrysler "American" cars were. But I gotta tell you, I'm not paying $20, 30k for a vehicle that has proven to me in the past to be a low quality product. Heck, my Hondas (Accords) were both made in the US and are the best cars I've ever owned - we can friggin' do it!! Why won't US manufacturers pay the price and walk the talk to make better cars??

My apolgies for the screed, but this is a subject that gets me going and really pisses me off. This is the greatest country on earth with the greatest people on earth and we can do geometrically better in this area than we do - when you accept crap you get crap. I think I'm done.
