I'm looking for a set of Vstrom Handguards and hardware to bolt up to a FJR.

In lieu of a set you may have laying around, I would appreciate any input on what parts are needed.

Thanks.

I have a full set with hardware and I think a second set of just the guards. If you can wait till Saturday I pull them out and send some pics and a price. All are in good condition.

I'm in no rush . Thanks for checking.

I'm currently using Barkbuster Blizzards which work well for cold weather riding but they are a bit overkill to use in warm weather.

I picked up a set of the $20 ebay guards that were posted here months ago but the material seemed very brittle with a potential of cracking into sharp pieces so I gave them away.

Thick gloves annoy me and I haven't found a rain glove that I like. I'm hoping that the Vstrom will work well as a summer guard to keep (some) rain off my hands.

Will the Vstrom guards clear the Gen III gas tank without bar risers?
The gas tank... or windshield?
Either. I've seen a Gen III with the bars at full lock and there isn't much room between the bar and the tank. It'd be an issue if the guards interfered with the windshield too. Next we would have to ask OEM, Cal Si, Cee Baileys, etc. and which caliber of each aftermarket windshield. You don't have to worry about it for at least another couple of hours ;)

They did not on my 14 and thats why I sold them. They would just touch when turning left but I could not get to the stop turning right so I opted to remove them. I do not have risers so I can't say if it is an issue or not.

Thanks for the input. I hadn't considered a fit issue for Gen 3. El Torro Joe has a set that I may try out for fit.

I don't have a riser and am running a Cee Bailey Sport Shield . I can deal with slight interference at full lock as long as normal U-urns are still feasible.

B,

I do have a set with all the necessary mounting hardware. They also have some metal extension that mount to the bottom edge of the guard (I think a forum member made and sold the extensions). Let me know if you're interested otherwise I put up a for sale add. $55 with shipping CONUS. Pics tomorrow if needed.

Thanks,

Gary

Many thanks to all that chimed in. Several people commented on an interference with the Vstrom and Gen 3. I'll order a set of Barkbuster Storm S7 as they can be rotated to clear the fairing/tank/shield.

st4gary,

As long as you've already pulled the Vstrom guards out, and it seems bseelbach is buying something else, are you still interested in selling them? Like to me, for instance?
