Greencastle IN, bought the stuff, started to prep, Asst Store Manager came out and told me to stop, said it was against "Policy".

I told him it was my " Policy" to not patronize *** holes.

We were at a conundrum.

I returned the stuff and used their restroom, leaving behind my opinion of the Manager and his "Policy"!

Maybe just his policy. Just last week there was a couple guys doing oil changes at the Wally World in Redmond Or.

I would have just kept doing it. What the hell was he going to do? As soon as that oil plug was out there would be no turning back. Just make sure you don't hit the ground with any oil.

You could change it in my garage tomorrow morning.

I would say tonight, but we have a funeral to go to tonight. (brother-in-law died over the weekend)

I get up real early, so give me a call and we can arrange something.

The boys at FlatcOut Powersports in Martinsville IN have been most accommodating. I drove in 19 minutes ago and they are almost finished. Corey Regan is the Service Manager, 765-342-6335. 390 State Road 37N, Martinsville IN. They also handle CanAm Spyders.

If you would have left your "opinion" on the floor in front of the greeter it would have probably had more impact ...

No offense, but I don't blame them for setting such a policy. Sure, you're going to clean up after, and have no intention to leave a mess, but it's pretty easy to have a slip and suddenly there's two quarts of oil on the ground. Then there's the matter of the heathen hoard (car drivers) who see you at work, and assume it's fine for them to do the same thing.

This is a classic case of (lowest common denominator) ... If you do it, than every toothless bum might also ... Heck, I used to park at Wal-Mart overnight in my RV with my wife and kids ... No problems ...

Then, we pulled into one and there were people in tents on the asphalt with a bonfire ... All of a sudden, a new policy ...

It only takes one jack *** to ruin it ya know ...

John, you could have used my garage any time today. Lot's of Indy guys here are happy to help fellow members if they need assistance! Glad you found a shop to help though.

Lots of places have a "Can't work on it in the parking lot" policy, even the parts stores. But an oil change has so much potential for disaster and abuse. Some lowlife scumbag does the change OK, doesn't spill more than a few drops, but then leaves the old oil in the tray as he drives off. Or someone doesn't even bother collecting the oil, just lets it run out, fills it with the oil he just bought, and drives off.

You've seen public restrooms. You know what John Q. Scumbag is capable of when it's not his problem to clean up.

The only time I have done a Walmart oil change was at one that had an automotive service center. I did the change outside their bay doors (with the service manager's approval) using a borrowed drain pan and funnel (they offered) so I didn't even have to buy a disposable turkey roasting pan. They happily took my used oil as well. I don't know whether you ran into an ****** or if there have been policy changes. As it has been said, it might only take one moron messing up the parking lot to **** things up for everybody.

That was my thought as well. I've actually seen people drain their oil right on the asphalt. I bet something happened at this location previously and the manager said "Never again."

Ok John, fess up. You know damn well that the manager had good reason to run you off, because you were working on your bike while buck naked..... again. We've talked about how this can scare the children and offend the lady folk, especially when you ask passers by to hold your dip stick.

I asked in the Auto Service Center when I paid for my oil, filter, funnel and turkey roaster pan. The Cashier said sure and that they would be glad to take the old oil.

Just about had the drain plug out when..............

On well, I feel like a Harley owner now after paying $79.99 for an oil change :)

Ah! After being told it was OK, I'd be a little irritated as well to be told it was not.

And that was the source of my frustration!
