I have a 2012 FJR and want to try an after market seat/saddle. Looking for a Russell Day Long, Corbin, Ect. front and rear. I am 6', 230lbs, 32" inseam. I would also like to keep my stock seat if possible. I welcome any comments or suggestions from other forum members. Thanks

Wow ! Is this thread only for Iowans?

First reply was good advice, As important as a good seat is... get the best: Russell Day Long simply will make seat discomfort a thing of the past.

I got a used one for my Gen. 1 about 170k ago and have never thought about the price being too high. Now I have two lined up for my Gen. 2 and

may eventually sell one of them. Now would be a good time to send away some stock seats for a rebuild. Since you want to keep your stockers, shop

around for a wrecked bike and make an offer on the seats from it. A good seat pan is all you need - regardless of the condition of the seats.

If you really are undecided on seats still, Matt (Ignacio) did a comparison here:

Thanks for all the information,

The Russell Day Long seems to be the saddle of choice. I have heard that people do group buys on new seats. Anyone know if such a thing is happening this winter? I know I would have to give up the stock seat or find one to send in.

That didn't take long. I made a deal for a Russell front seat. Still would like a rear seat or a smuggler (blue) if anyone has one.

Thanks for all the advice. You gotta love the FJR Forum.

There's a Smuggler for sale in the F/S section $450.00, needs paint to match 12
