Wanted any used FJR Cam Chain Tensioner

Send me your worn out, useless Cam Chain Tensioner off any year FJR. I will make a print of it, a drawing that shows it's size, and send it to what ever various motorcycle parts suppliers I can find or you can think of. They will hopefully see some profit potential and measure the CCT's they have to see if one will fit, or could be modified to fit.

To what end? A lower cost substitute? Great, but keep in mind the small number of potential sales, the infrequent replacement schedule, and the fact an oe from Mondack is $50. Not a lot to work with, profit wise.

I wouldn't buy a different part like this just because it "fits".

Do you have another spelling for the name of that dealer?

Mine was about half that from Gary. Though he'll take more if you insist.

He is not looking to have one built that just fits and is cheaper than OE he is trying to get someone to build one that fits and [SIZE=14pt]Works[/SIZE].

more of an automotive type design.

Maybe he will succeed maybe not but if he does succeed we all benefit so if you can send the guy your used part that is destined for the land fill anyway do it. help a brother out.

If it came out similar to the ratcheting one like in the Kwaker, I'd probably buy one to install at a later date when necessary. I've seen the ratchet type on a number of vehicles and I like them. Gen I and II the same installation position, travel, etc? (I know they have different springs and P/N's)

It is in working condition but it's a little tired.

Thats exactly why I only made one manual adjusting CCT. If it explodes which I am sure it won't then its my problem but if it did in somebody else the shit storm and finger pointing sure as hell wouldn't be worth it.

We've pretty much determined that the OEM CCT is at the root of all that's evil with recently-grenaded FJR motors. Since the manufacturer has demonstrated time and again that they must be dragged kicking and screaming into doing the right thing, some of us are willing and eager to come up with a better-engineered part, and applaud the offer of a fellow forum member to pioneer yet another grass-roots kick-ass farkle....
