I need someone's worn, but otherwise good, Gen I stock shock...on an even exchange program with me:

my previous thread discussing big bang for the buck replacement shocks:

https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?showtopic=135224&st=0&gopid=829330entry829330

I am convinced at this point (talk me out of it if you like!) that getting Sasquatch Jay to rebuild my stock shock ($450) is my big bang for the buck way to go

https://www.sasquatchrider.com/index.html

So...here's my humble request:

Anybody have a spare, worn stock shock laying around that I can pay for you to have it shipped to Sasquatch to be rebuilt.

Your shock will be rebuilt and sent to me.

My local shop will install it and remove my old shock which I will then promply ship to you.

This is on my Gen I '04, and I'll sent you back my currently installed stock shock (with 40k miles on it)

You will end up with my current stock shock and out no $$$ at the end

I would truly be thankful

Mike

thanx much, Doc !

two other peeps have offered me worn out Gen I shocks for only shipping costs.

Glass1/2full above and Dan on the "other" forum with the help of Duff.

one of them is TWN Tim's shock off his bike so as of now, the plan is for TWN's tool to be under my ass as I go down the road.

I will present the one finger salute in his honor with even more joy than before.

Note: there will be another spare worn shock available to someone in need as a Pay it Forward.

All involved in helping me out agree to offer up that shock to any FJR peep with the promise that they will Pay It Forward to someone in need as well.

PS...I'm an idiot and hindsight is always 20/20...

I replaced my stock shock that came with the bike at 90k miles...the AIW (angelic italian wifey) sometimes harps on my hording as I do on her "throw away" mentality.

Zorkler was kind enuf to send me for shipping his old shock with only 10k miles on it as a replacement for me.

I threw away the old shock as I never thought this situation would happen to impress my wife and shore up our marriage...silly me !!!

<sigh>

let's ride safe and be careful out there,

Mike in Nawlins'

Mike. I really would not waste $450 rebuilding a stock shock. Bad value and use of your $$$$ in my not so humble opionion.

Keep an eye out on craigslist (nationally) and the forums. Used aftermarket shocks come up for sale every so often for the same price point as your rebuilding the stock. In fact, just a couple months ago I found a used Wilbers for a friend that had all the bells and whistles (all options) on craigslist that was in San Diego that he bought for $450.
