'04. Heat regulator for the Yamaha grips was flaky from day one, dealer gave me a new one. I did the install myself. At ~1k miles went to the dealer for nasty surging. Didn't expect a fix, just wanted to get it on record should a factory fix come up later. Dealer agrees it was bucking but couldn't fix the surging, whatta surprise. ~8k miles blown fork seal, warranty repaired with no problem. Those were the only times my bike visited the service department at my dealer. After doing a fork service myself I regretted having the dealer replace the seal.

I haven't wanted to listen to the ticking noise I'm starting to hear until the end of the riding season. I'm over due for a valve adjustment right now. Yes, I read about the tight valves on *one* FJR. If it's ticking becasuse it needs adjustment then I'm not up-tight.

Aside from the occasionaly tick (well, even that one), what warrany repairs have you peeps had performed?
Please include year of bike and mileage at time of repair and current mileage.
No warranty issues on my 05 non-ABS with 55k trouble free miles. However, my 06 AE with 6k miles has had a recall completed for brackets for the shift actuator(new actuator required) and I have a disturbing clunking when I hit bumps in the front end area. Tech man has not been able to determine the cause. The steering head torque values are correct. Anyone have any ideas of noise in 06 front ends?

Turbo Dave, have you checked the coffee cup holder and ash tray for the noise.. :D  j/k, after meeting you in Reno couldn't resist.

'04 sold with 22,000 miles on the clock, never went back to the dealer after I picked her up. '06 with close to 7000 miles, no problems other than my steller 17.0 mpg, and a set of trashed elephants. I also have the occasional "thunk" in the front end area, but I'll be damned if I can find it.

:) Well, I just returned from the EOM, what a great time!!!!!!!!

My 05 with about 13,000 miles on it started to pop out of gear in second, so that will be turned in now that i have retunred from EOM.

O also had a well documented rear oil seal leak, told them at 8,000 miles that it was an issue and they did nothing, I found it with in a few thouhsand miles of ownership.

Fixed under warranty, no cost to me.

i am just hoping this new issue is fixed as well..

BTW the snake with no second gear was a hoot!!!!!!!!!!

G, Great IDEA, had not thought about that being the cause, thanks much. You my friend are INDEED A ROCKET SCIENTIST!

Intrument cluster replaced under warrenty by dealer on my '05 due to minor melting from aftermarket windshield and strong sunlight. (Aka magnifying glass effect).

What exactly does Y.E.S. cover and are there any deductibles.Does it just cover internal components?

I too will probably keep this bike for a long time, and usually, almost always do my own maintenance.

$389.00 does sound like cheap insurance.

Clicky
I took delivery in May 06, so I have until May of 2007. I will probably purchase it before the end of the year.

Thanks for all the info, except this forum just keeps costing me more money the more I read!

I blew a coil in early 03 (forget the miles, but it was less than 3K). Dealer thought it was a fluke, and a totally agree. No harm no foul.

But it's starting to tick now after a long hard day of riding. Once the northern riding season is done, it's going in for valve guide replacement.

Aside from these, it's been flawless.

All other problems have been self-inflicted.

Instrument cluster replaced due to 17mpg software glitch and front master brake sub assembly was faulty from day one and all replaced at 2250 miles on 2006A. PM. <>< :glare:

If the thunk is on the 06 it is normal. Floating disk brake.

Rear shock blew on my '05 at about 7K miles.

Front fender cracked out one of the bolt tabs at about 10K (they said maybe hit the SuperBrace -prior to the

ABS redesign of the SuperBrace - I lean more towards them overtightening the bolts after a tire change). No evidence either way. Both items replaced w/o fuss (other than the interminable wait for parts during the best riding weather of the year).

Currently about 500 miles shy of 30K
