One year will be here soon and I am trying to decide how much extended warranty I should buy. Now, because of a shoulder injury, I don't think I will be putting more then 2500 miles or so in the next year. Even in a good year I don't put on but 4500 miles a year. Just trying to decide what makes sense. Thanks for your ideas.

It makes sense for a number of reasons.

1.) It covers the bike where ever you may be.

2.) It covers the bike no matter the problem (mostly, but not wear items like tires, brake pads, etcc.)

3.) Any failure of a major system will cost more to repair than the YES

4.) Its transferrable should you decide to sell the bike in the next 3 or 4 years.

Sooooo, call D&H Cycle in Cullman, AL: 888-553-3311. IIRC, $439. Cheaper than an ECU and probably about what a fuel pump would cost, incl. labor.

I called North End cycle in Elkhart Indiana yesterday and paid $369.00 for the warranty. Spoke to a party named Paul who was very helpful. Just had to send in a copy of my paperwork from when I purchased the bike and a personal check. Found this price on the forum here last year.

paul whitmer. real nice guy. said to send them a check for $369, VIN or copy of bill of sale and contact info, and he'd get it right out.

i forgot to mention, i call, say i'd like to speak with someone about the extended warranty. paul comes on, and i say i'm interested in the yamaha motorcycle extended warranty. he says something like "oh, yeah, for the fjr? okay, well here's what you do..." and goes into the info. i thought it was kinda funny that he knew it was for the fjr. i didn't hear all he was saying, except something about thanks for the publicity, it's helped getting word out about their prices or something.
