Mid-day Tuesday. It seems we have got away with it. I have been out and about with my work and have seen lots of flooded fields and public areas but no disruption to the roads or to property. According to the media North Manchester is the worst hit, (we are South), as the river Irwell broke its banks here and there.

This morning was cold and dry with a clear sky, that is forecast to last a day then back to rain. Hopefully that break will give the place chance to drain off a little.

Our flood warning has been reduced to all clear now, which is a relief.

Yorkshire has had it worse still, and some areas have just got back to normal after the flooding last summer. One guy on the news had just re-opened his pub 3 weeks ago and its flooded again now! Totally heartbreaking.

I talked with Andy last night, who has just spent a few days in England, on his way to foreign parts. He said that our home town of Hull (East coast) has a lot of excess water. There are some homes that have only just had the repairs completed, from last summer's flooding, that have been flooded again.

Andy's sister is still living in a trailer, in the front yard of her house, waiting for the place to dry out enough for repairs. She's lived in the miniature trailer for almost six months now, just using the upstairs of her house to sleep and shower. Many of her neighbors are living the same way.

Something has certainly changed, because there has never been flooding on this scale, in England before.

Jill
