I have the Hella FF50s installed w/ the stock rocker switch. I like the switch but I'm sure its not water proof.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a waterproof, illuminated rocker switch? I'm not crazy 'bout the toggle switch and boot idea, as I like the illuminated rocker switch.

Gun,

I've got the toggle switch and boot setup, but I'm thinkin' you might be able to source a water-resistant, illuminated switch thru a marine retailer. I've used West Marine as a source of weather resistant elec. components. Give it a try......

....um....reading comprehension on my part today is lacking. Had to do actual work for my employer today and found it hard to also do this board and get ready for WFO.

My bad.

I used the Hella switch and have not had any trouble with it yet. It has been through some rain and a few washings to date. I find that illuminated switches bother me at night so I didn't wire in the light for the Hella switch. So, I will go for the simple switch with boot setup if I need to replace the switch.

That Contura rocker looks pretty big, If you decide to try it make sure you have room for a hole that size where you now have the Hella rocker installed.

That's one of my concerns...the Hella switch required a 12mm hole which is pretty small compared to some of the other switches I've look at.

I may go w/ an idea I saw from another member on the forum (jimbemotumbo)...he "sealed" his switch w/ Permatex. My only concern is how it looks.

Hey, jimbemotumbo, how 'bout some pictures of your switch?

I did not like the Hella rocker switch either. So I mounted the switch in the left handle bar housing. I got a rubber boot for the switch and sealed it on with clear sealant.

Here is the link to the post I did on that. https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?s...ic=7321&hl=

Just saw this GunMD ... I'll snap a pic tomorrow and post it up. Not much to see. You can't see that I did anything, as I put a small bead of black permatex around the base where it contacts the fairing top panel. Smoothed it with my finger and you can't see it anymore (the permatex, not my finger). I didn't do anything to the rocker part.

I just got back from a 3k ride over a few days. Rained most of the time. Really hard. Hellas on for 20 hours straight at one point. No problems with the switch at all, and it was pretty soaked. I was half expecting it to fail, but now I don't think I'll worry about it.

I guess that will stop water from getting under the switch, but my concern is that water will get inside the switch, between the rocker itself and the switch housing.

As I said above, "I just got back from a 3k ride over a few days. Rained most of the time. Really hard. Hellas on for 20 hours straight at one point. No problems with the switch at all, and it was pretty soaked. I was half expecting it to fail, but now I don't think I'll worry about it."

I took the switch apart yesterday and it appears to have never been wet inside. So far, so good.
