I visited the EZ board @ 9 PM central time 6/13 and the message about this site and clicky was still there. Like the new site, I'll continue checking them all. Ian, Iowa

Hey skooter, your not just checking in to see who to boot off EZB, are you?
I am making a list, and checking it twice. Gonna find out who's naughty and nice...... :p

How was the 24?
Not so good. I highsided my beloved fjr 1/3 into the rally. Even with no mirrors and no windscreen, I still managed a 32nd place finish out of about 48. Still, put a huge damper on the whole event. My poor fjr is gonna be down and out for awhile I am afraid.

Hey everyone, I'm mostly a lurker on the other two main FJR boards, got all the way to squid on EZ, this seems to be a keeper. Now since I have more mandetory reading my wife wants a perfume that smells like my computer!!

Dang, skooter! Sorry 'bout the high side. Hope you're OK!
I am good for the most part. Really sore left wrist from landing after my attempt at superman imitation. Will have it looked at tomorrow, just to make sure its not broken. Its starting to feel better already. Towards the end of the rally, and the 730 mile return trip yesterday, it was so sore that when at a stop I would have to pull in the clutch with my right hand, then give it to my left hand. And then I had difficulty engaging without killing it. While moving, no clutch shifts, and when coming to a stop, I would just have to use it. Ouch! No f***ing fun!

Other than the wrist, a small bruise above the left hip that I didn't know about until the clothes came off. I still don't feel it. Also, a silver dollar size burn or road rash on the left knee. Barely can feel it. Don't understand how I got it. My first gear pants show only mild abrasion, and the coolmax long underwear I also had on show nothing. Weird. Heat from the slide?

Still, only minor injuries. Testament to having the right gear on.

I wasn't going too fast. Maybe 15-30 mph. Slid about 20' I guess. Helmet never touched the ground, and I jumped up right away to check out my poor fjr.

The crash was due to operator error - locking up the rear in a slight panic situation as I transitioned from checking out the outstanding scenery close to the Sonora Pass summit, to the approaching sharp 90 degree left hand corner that I could now see had lots of water due to melting snow. D'oh!

Still, operator error and all, I can't help but think about the fact the ABS would have prevented this whole thing. No rear lock-up, no highside. I would have scrubbed the 10 mph or so I needed to and taken the corner.

Not trying to start a debate or anything, but something I will think about on my next bike purchase. Probably will get ABS next time around. Heck for all I know, if I decide to make an insurance claim, this one could be totalled. I doubt it, but the rear sub frame is slightly tweeked, and the front fairing frame will need to be replaced. That would be too bad, as the 1500 miles I have ridden since the crash show the fjr to still be running well, and very smooth.

Thanks for the kind words Highlander. That is some beautiful country you Kali guys have access too.

Best regards to everyone here!

Where's the "My Left Leg Gets Too Hot!!!" thread?

Cheers,

Jerry

@SkooterG

Greg,

Shame about your highside :( . Once the ego recovers, the rest is up to Gary McCoy and his spares team.

The obvious conclusion is (y'all ready for this?) at least you did not hurt yourself :D .

:) Nice board layout, i was getting discouraged on the EZ board trying to find old posts. Some of those posts had specific part#'s etc.

I see the post containing the url for this site has been deleted now.

Hello,

I've seen some of you on other boards. Nice to have another one. Maybe this one will be a llittle more active.

Now...we need to start an all out blitz to get everyone to start reading and posting here. Maybe offer a prize! :)

It looks like the forum is growing by the minute... Tha word is getting out and about...
