In 2007, I originally bought a 2008 FJR and absolutely loved it. When I lost it four years ago in the divorce, it was crushing.
Thanks to Warren at Power Yamaha in Sublimity, OR who didn't try to screw me and made a fair counter offer, we had a deal done in under 30 mins.
I am now the proud owner (if everything else goes smoothly, Motorcycling Gods willing), I'll take delivery on Thursday of a new 2012 Yamaha FJR1300A!
The deal was partially made possible by the info from you guys here on the forum. I didn't know the rules and regulations of importing a bike from the US to Canada but several of you gave some very good advice and offered URLs that helped me figure it out. The process is a PITA but not too convoluted and shouldn't be a problem.
The biggest advantage of buying in the US and importing rather than buying in Canada was, while I didn't save any money, I'll be getting a bike that is *three* years newer with 4K+ *fewer* miles on it.
The important thing is, after four years out of the saddle, I'll proudly be able to call myself a rider again!
