NO NEED TO YELL, we can hear you just fine.

only if you do it as small as you can....and in italics and type slowly. shhhhh.....quiet.

Well its gone and I don't think any sale has bothered me as much as this one.(edited to please the masses )
So are you now bikeless?

"Why did you sell if it you obviously liked it so much?" He said nosily.(Mostly rhetorical as your reasons are not my business).

An FJR in yellow might be nice.

going dirt riding with my 9yr old boy,no time or money to do both so there it goes!
It sounds to me you've picked the best way to ride....with someone you love and who looks to you for clues of what a real man is and how he thinks and reacts to the world around him. Your time with him is truly priceless so enjoy every moment. I didn't start riding until I was 15 and now, pushing 60, I can remember the times my dad and I rode our bikes together along the American River near Sacramento and when we would go camping in the Sierras (His Triumph Tiger Cub and my Parilla 250 scrambler). I cannot emphasize enough the word priceless!

Who knows where this "time" will lead. It may well be that he will convert to a street rider and you will also be able to share that passion with him. As one who had a 20+ year hiatus (because I thought it too risky vs. being the sole adult)while raising my daughter as a single parent, though you may have to wait for time to pass, if this is a passionate hobby for you, then it will come full circle and avail itself to you once again. Until then, there is no joy in this world that will compare to the fruits of your time and energy invested in your child. I am amazed every day at the adult mine has become and wouldn't trade or try to compare anything I've set aside for her.

I do understand the ache in your heart as I sold 2 motorcycles when I was suddenly the "only" parent in the house, but I leave you with this encouragement: It will all be worth it in the end.

:clapping: Amen, Brother! Spend that time w/ your boy while you can. You'll blink and the time will be past. As the saying goes, "seize the day!"

No one in my family will even let me broach the subject of putting one of my girls on the back of the Feej. I would only even consider my oldest, 10 about to be 11, pushing 18 already.

BIG +1

I wouldn't have put my "princess" on the back of a bike. I was more concerned with the risk of riding when I was the only parent she had left. I wanted to be the one to love her and raise her.

Pretty basic and simple once you boil it down.

Priceless! I admire you for making the change. As mentioned cherish the time with your son and that time off road will never be forgotten. Do it in the dirt!!! Ya baby....PM. <>< :clapping:

That's awesome Yellow Wolf.

Some of my fondest memories are dirt riding with my dad back in the day. We didn't have much back then but we had bikes. Go on ya!

I've been down this path with my kids too, but they out grew it or decided it wasn't their thing, which is why I crossed over to the road side of life.

It will still be here when you're ready to come back :D

Hey Yellow Wolf,

I am a single Dad with two girls. My oldest is now 14 and the youngest is 9. I just started riding street again after a 13-year layoff for the same reasons you mention. I certainly understand your reasoning. It's a sacrifice that will pass in no time. Perhaps you can do what I did and ride dirty for a while. The 40-plus dirt competition is very good in Western NC. There are several tracks in the Shelby and Forest City areas run by JMX Racing.

If you ever need a "fix", maybe I can grab my brother's GoldWing and you can ride my FJR. My brother lives about two hours from you and I visit often.

Make priceless memories and rest assured you are doing the right thing.

Jeff
