I was backing out of a parking space at work when suddenly the bike is at a steep enough angle that I couldn't hold it up. I don't even know what happened but the bike fell against the inside of my left leg and down I went with the bike. Luckily, nobody was there to see me fall.

I broke the mirror, scuffed the bag, engine case and bar end. DOH!

First time I ever dropped a street bike. :angry2: :angry2: :angry2:

sorry 'bout that Chief...

BTDT twice...usually after a full tank of gas and when tired

gotta get ya some sliders to protect most of the plastic

my mirrors and plastic have survived both of my drops nicely

my ego, not so much

let's ride safe and be careful out there,

Mike in Nawlins'

Sorry to hear of the drop.

Ya know... Ya notice how no one erv says, "Hey I dropped the baby"? Maybe we should pretend our FeeJ's are like an infant, all be it much heavier, that way we'll never drop it.

Uh oh.... I think I went away for a while. Now I'm back. I hope I didn't say anything real silly.

Bah, shake it off, man.

Chicks dig scars.

And now you can add an upside-down FJR to your sig line, too, just like me!

Sorry to hear about the drop Ray but don't worry, it happens to the best of us. And since I've dropped my feej I can also say it happens to the worst of us too. :p

Oh that sucks.

We did get some pics of it on the trip so we have some nice virgin shots though right?

Well, maybe that would just make you feel worse.

I'm just glad you didn't end up injuring an ankle or knee, that would be much worse.

Thanks...I just wish there was a better story to tell. :(
I would be glad there WASN"T a better story to tell. Better stories usually = more damage.
Alexi

PS - Out of curiousity, were you backing it up or downhill? Just wondering if maybe it was something like you were not really into it, maybe a long day of work or a belly full of food and got caught by some extra gravity .

Having dropped a streetbike before, all I can say is "don't worry--SOMEDAY you will quit replaying it over and over and over in your head....."

I think what happened is this:

I couldn't get the ignition key to turn (just had the switch recall done...) so I was backing up the bike with the bars turned full to the right with my right hand on the bars and my left hand on the ignition key. When the bike started to lean left I did't have a hand on the left bar to pull up on. By the time I got a hold of the bar, the bike was too far over and down we went! Flat ground to answer your question.

I won't ever do that again (one handed).

New mirror $68.00

New engin cover $72.00

Gasket $10.00

Having nobody there to see me lying on the ground.....PRICELESS!

Back on the COG lists, we have something called the CDA (Connie Droppers Anonymous, I have CDA 40 ) you have to post how you dropped your bike and someone officially hands out the numbers... :)

Do we have something like an FJ Droppers Anonymous list FJDA? :)
