seen i few of these threads , so i ordered up some sliders and mounted em... the wife did a 'butt wiggle' while i was stopped and unprepared and almost lost it....does the FJR seems more tipsey to folks than other bikes? is there anyway to protect the sidebags?

Been there - done that!

But mine was in rush hour, bumper-to-bumper, stop-and-go traffic on the Interstate that runs through town. Oh yeah, and it was raining.

Get the sliders. If I had not had a dash shelf I don't believe I would have broken the mirror (glass part).

As for the bags, they seem to be pretty tough to me. Mine have scratches but still function and are 100% waterproof.

Wondering if it would be prudent to put some clear protective vinyl on the side bags, ala the tank, to maybe help save them from scratches in a tip-over?

Those clear films would not have been a help to me. My "scratches" are more like "gouges".

The films do fine at preventing light contact (knees/belt buckle rubbing against tank) from causing scratches, and may even work to some extent at preventing rock chips/road debris from scratching, but it is really not designed to protect the sidebags from the weight of the bike.

Not to say that it would hurt anything, just not sure how much it would actually help.

Thanks...I just wish there was a better story to tell. :(
You could make one up... this one time, at band camp, there were these ninjas trying to steal my bike... :assassin:

If you're going to talk about band camp, you could really use your imagination. Never mind the ninjas...........

RacinRay, you have joined a select group now (of which a whole lot of us are members).
