Harley Rider at work got access to a time share condo near Branston,MO. for a week, so he and two of his fellow HD riders planned a weeks vacation around a ride to Branston two up with their wifes. Knowing I have made a ride or two or three to that area, he asked if I could help him with a nice scenic route, not to complicated. Sure be glad to. Heres how I like to go, US 24 West to IL 107 South to US 54 West to MO 19 South until you come to US 160, take that West to Branston, S&T maps it at 10 hours, but I tend to do it in 8 1/2 or 9 hrs.

Well he got back to work Monday, I asked him how the ride was, and the answer was " crookest damn road I ever been on one fr**ken turn right after another, took us better than 13 Fr**ken hours to get there, never got over 40 mph, I'm never going on that road again.

Sheese, I always thought that was a nice day ride, guess I'm out of the route planning business. :glare:

Whenever someone asks me for route advice, I ask them what kind of roads they like to ride and their pace so I don't send them on a wild ass crookedy road if they don't like 'em. ;)

I would never send HD dudes on twisties, unless I asked them first. There is usually a reason why you don't see a lot of HD's on the super twisties.... :dribble:

They just like to cruise on big sweepers and enjoy the scenery.

That's just the point, I always considered 19 a nice relaxed ride, I didn't know it had twisties?????????????????????

Good to see the HH club here is alive and well.
Not a Harley hater, I actually never gave a thought about the route, that's just the way I like to go to Branston. If I had wanted to be mean I would have sent them down hwy 5 :yahoo:

Why does he even ride? A Miata with no muffler would probably suit him better (although the Mazda's power might overwhelm).

I-44 would've gotten him there in 4 hours.

There's a documentary video repeating on one of Dish Network's 'sport/adventure' channels of a couple (he & she) on Harleys doing a transcontinental ride -- Yep, pretty-much all Super-Slab. :(
